Historical Report on Race

African Americans have endured much discrimination throughout their history in the United States of America. There have been many laws enacted to keep them from having the same rights and freedoms as other Americans. African Americans have fought to achieve equality with all other Americans. They have also had many problems and still have some struggles with many different political, cultural, and social issues throughout history. African Americans are a race of people that have proven to be a strong people that deserve equal rights as any other race. The African American people that first came to America came not of their own free will. They were brought to America and sold as slaves to white people to do their bidding and were forced to work and live in some of the worst conditions. They were beaten if they did not do as they were told or if they did not produce the amount of work that they were required to produce. These people were also beaten and killed if they tried to run away from their slave owners (CRF-USA, 2014). African Americans have also been forced be segregated from the whites, not being allowed to ride the same busses, eat in the same establishments, go to the same schools, and many more. The African American people have had many different issues throughout history. One such issue was on the political end with not being allowed to vote and even run for a seat in congress. African Americans also were forced to live in what is considered the slums or projects because they were not allowed to live in the same neighborhoods and were not afforded the opportunities for employment to be able to earn the living necessary to live in nicer homes and neighborhood. For the same reason they were not able to afford the same education as others but there was also the fact that for many years schools were segregated (Hubpages, 2014).
