Establish Due Tasks
6. How can I prioritize work?
Make a To-do List: The first step in prioritizing your tasks is to make a to-do list. A to-do list will have all the goals that you expect to complete. The to-do list will always be available for you to update as you think of them.
Establish Due Dates: Beside each item on the list, write down its actual due date which is when the task is actually required to be completed and rank them in order of importance.
Assess Interdependent Tasks: Decide which of the tasks on your to-do list significantly impact other people's to-do lists.
Consider Consequences: Put off the tasks with limited consequences so you can get started on the highly important tasks right away.
De-Clutter the List: By checking off a large number

When you take on smaller tasks that may be easier but less important, you get tired out and keep procrastinating the harder task that never gets tackled. By doing that one first, you’re more energetic for the task and are more willing to get it accomplished so you can get to the easier tasks. It’s all in your mind and how you think about the tasks’.…

I would prefer to do the things I really enjoy rather than the things that are important. I sometimes use these things to make excuses for not the things that I should be doing. I tend to give more importance to these things at any given time of the day, it makes prioritizing these activities that much harder. I always believed doing the easy tasks first and getting them done then proceeding to complete the harder tasks last. My problem is I get easily distracted with my zappers. Having taking this GS 1145 class has shown me how to reconstruct and use my time wisely. By using a To Do List will help improve me with using my time wisely. This will motivate me to list my easy and hard things to do so I can complete in a timely manner. In contrast with the Self-Assessment, I consider myself to be more of a morning person, so getting started on these tasks soon after I wake every morning would ensure successful completion. Also limiting contact with others while working on these tasks would eliminate the temptation to enjoy my zappers. I also need to set aside certain days of the week to complete these tasks as well. Now that I have a plan, I plan to implement it a soon as possible in hopes that my school work gets done and still have time for my zappers.…

During this phase of my life that is the university life where everyone seems to be in a rush to complete the tasks and meet some deadlines, I face the problem of optimizing my time utilization and concentrating on required task. This has been a serious issue because I have time to allocate for each task but I waste a lot of time doing useless activities during that time which stops me from achieving the desired results. For instance I know I have a quiz the next day. The perfect preparation would be going through the lecture slides, lecture notes and doing all available practice questions. Instead of starting in the morning I would rather waste my time here and there and then start studying at night which would only leave me with time that is sufficient to do any one or two of the three excercises. Furthermore even when I am doing that task it’s really hard to concentrate on it instead my mind swirls from the actual task. A practical example is during namaz when I think of every other thing except namaz itself.…

As the writers said “Find the way to ‘get motivated’” (Moore, Baker, Packer,39). I think writers means that you should inspired yourself and find some reasons for yourself to do your work. In my perspective, we can tell ourselves some benefit if I can have done this work. For example, in my college life we also have lots of homework need to do, but most of time I do my homework before due time only few hours. Therefore, sometimes I cannot do my homework. If I can inspire myself do homework few days before due day, which I think I can get good job. Just like writers said when you feel you are procrastination, think about the benefit if you can finish work. You can get some motivation to do it.…

The goals I set myself are extremely high and almost seem unrealistic. Nonetheless, this is what give me the motivation and strive I need to put in a great deal of effort. Postponing undesirable activities is what I seem to be a natural at, cramming to get them completed when time is limited. It is in that rushed state that I feel my mind works most efficiently. However, we all know this is a poor work method and that is why I set such high goals to make it seem unrealistic. By doing that, I insure I start the activity at a sooner time because it feels as if I have more to complete than actually necessary. That way, I can keep my eye on the target at all times because it makes me feel as if I have much work to do to achieve it…

Every teacher always gives the same old tired speech when assigning a school assignment “Start right away, do not begin until the last minute to begin”. I usually tend to disregard any warnings about procrastination. When given school assignments, I used to think that they wouldn’t bring me any knowledge I would use in the real world; boy, was I wrong! School assignments are meant to teach us responsibility, and punctuality. I eventually had to learn to plan ahead and not procrastinate over a pile of work and a hot pot of coffee.…
