They make their own hours and are in charge of their income, salary varies from $28,000-$90,000+. Although it can take great patience to build a clientele, I believe esthetics is the best choice for anyone who wants a fulfilling job of making other feel better about themselves.
Esthetics would be ideal for a motivated, goal oriented woman like me who wants to be successful owning her own business and still have flexible hours for when I have a family of my own. I believe that high school students should not be pressured into going to a 4-year college just because they are in honors classes. I have the drive to work hard, so anything I do I will be successful at. After esthetics school I will be ready to enter a profession that I love and will never mind coming to work every day.

In order to accomplish this task, one would have to explore the origins of Art Nouveau. Upon reading the selected reading and reviewing the required videos it was clear that it could be argued as to which was the last movement of the Nineteenth-century or the first movement of the Twentieth-century. Additionally, it could be concluded from the selected reading that Art Nouveau best fits into the end and the beginning of the Arts and Crafts movement, dating from 1895 to 1905. It was a continuation of the older arts and crafts movement of the British designer, William Morris.…

After reading Peter Cappelli article “Why focusing too Narrowly in College Could Backfire” I started to think about my own educational goals and why I chose to be a hairstylist. When I graduated from high school I attend beauty college, at that time the beauty industry was booming. There was a salon on every corner. There was always walk- ins and new clients available for stylist. Now with the social media craze like YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, the African American salon business has fallen because social media outlets. These outlets, teach ordinary people how to do their own hair, and caused stylist to lose clients. We also have the natural hair movement, that took clients that would normally come into the salon for hair weaves and relaxers, and are now wearing their hair in its natural state and don’t need the salon anymore. Another major down fall to African American salon industry was manufacturing companies like L’Oréal and Shea moisture that promotes salon quality products on YouTube for the naturalista. These were a few major changes that happen in…

My parents first heard about the new program in the middle of my fifth grade year. Because of the program’s objective, my parents were convinced to enroll me in the program. A week after the interviewing process I was accepted to attend the program. When I first arrived, I notice how the school was smaller than other schools. I also found the environment of the school quite peculiar to what I was immune to. A month later I was one of many students being prepared for college. All three years, as being a Risley student, the program was given a report on its outstanding performances.…

Hello my name is Chassidy Mitchem I would absolutely love to be a part of your cosmetology program. I love to do hair and, make up. Doing hair is something I enjoy doing in my free time. It’s a way to get away from people and let my mind explore into better things. I enjoy looking and trying new hair styles and colors. I have done makeup and hair for Homecoming court and Grand March. It would be an absolute dream to get into this school and have some hands on time with the things I love doing while learning more about Cosmetology. Cosmetology is very important to the world because someone will always want their hair done or make up done. Most people only want to go to a professional so they know they will be getting the best of their money. You could also be able to set up your own business around your area. I differ from a lot of my peers because no one really understands the importance of Cosmetology the way I do. Everyone thinks it useless. Cosmetology is just as important as other jobs because someone will always need you. There will always be someone needing their eye brows done or maybe there nails especially during homecoming and prom or even a wedding. I’ve talked to a couple people and got some really interesting opinions. Some people has told me I wouldn’t make it and some people has told me I would, but my motto is “Never give up, because you never know how close you are to fulfilling your dream.” I plan on getting this degree and opening my own salon and I feel that it will give me knowledge I need to know for success. I learned to do this at a young age and I feel very strong about this career. I believe this will be the field I dedicate myself to. I hope to be attending this college at whatever time the school year would…

Choosing to attend Rock Valley College was not a hard decision for me. It was always one of my top choices when I was deciding on where I would go to continue my education. I ended up choosing RVC over my other options for a few reasons. One reason is that RVC is in Rockford and close to home. After considering all my options, I realized I was not ready to leave home yet. I felt as though I would need a transitional period to help me adjust to college life and RVC would be the perfect place for that. Another reason is the price of RVC. This was a big factor for me because I did not have much financially to afford to go off to a four-year college immediately. Rock Valley gave me the option to take classes that I would take at a four- year for…

When I first started researching about what beauty schools were around in my area and what they offered, I found many different schools for example empire beauty, which seemed like a good start but just didn’t seem to satisfy my requirements enough. I wanted something that was a little bit more in detail and hands on because I knew I wanted to learn everything that I could possibly learn about my craft. I looked around and have finally decided on Atlanta area technical college, and also have taken a tour around the school campus and felt that this school meets all of my requirement . And then one day I s. I noted the number down, and called right away, and I was transferred to Jan, who then became my counselor. That was the best choice I had ever made in my entire life.
