considerably less money. The final reason I chose RVC is because my brother and some friends had already gone there and had many good things to say about the education. Education was another big factor for me and I had always heard positive feedback for Rock Valley so it was not hard for me to choose Rock Valley College. My educational and career goals are to major in pre-medicine and to continue down this path so I can eventually become a pediatrician. I am planning to graduate RVC with my associates in science. Then I hope to transfer to the University of Chicago and be able to join the medical program they have there. I have always been in interested in the medical field and knew I would be going into it since I can remember. I eventually decided to follow the path to become a doctor because they can contribute their efforts into helping others. I am looking to specifically be a pediatrician because I love helping little kids. A pediatrician seems like the perfect fit for what I want to do for the rest of my life.
RVC is a good place to start at for me to be able to achieve these goals. By going to Rock Valley, I am receiving a good education that is showing me how much work I need to put in to receive the grades I want. The classes and professors challenge me and are preparing me for the more intense classes that will eventually take. By graduating from RVC with my associates in science, it will allow me a better chance to get into the four- year college I would like to attend. It will also look good on my application to get into a medical program. Rock Valley also offers a lot of ways to help me succeed. They have many resources available to me. For example, they have a good tutoring center where there are always tutors available to me if I need help with a class. RVC also has a very stocked library that has many sources ready for me to use. The academic advisors are also there for me. They can help me plan for my future and answer any questions I have about classes or transferring.
I expect the college experience to be challenging and completely different than what school has been like so far.
The experience will be exciting and a bit scary at the same time. I have been at RVC for a half a semester now and it has almost been everything I was expecting. It has been really challenging, but still manageable. My classes and workload from those classes has been a lot and very stressful at times, but worth the knowledge experience after I got everything done. I thought college would be extremely different from high school and in some ways, it is but it has not been all that different. Since most of my high school class is also going to RVC I always see familiar faces and feel welcomed and at ease. The professors and workload are very different from high school. In high school, the teachers were always there telling you what you had to do and when to turn it in, but professors in college leave it all up to you. They do not stay on top of you to make sure you are keeping up with the class and not falling behind. Professors do care that you do well in the class and will help if they see someone who is putting in a lot of effort and still struggling as long as they ask for guidance and do not give up. The experience has been exciting for the most part. I get to learn in a new environment and meet many new people. At first I was a bit scared to start college because I did not really know what to expect. I was worried the professors would be mean and the classes …show more content…
would be too hard. I was also nervous that I would not know anyone or that I would make any new friends. None of my fears were met though and so far I have had quite a pleasant experience at Rock Valley.
I am happy to have chosen to go to RVC for college.
I was worried at first about college because it was a completely new experience. Rock Valley has given me the opportunity to experience college while still being at home. I was afraid that the transition into college would be very hard and was quite anxious about, but it has been going well so far. College was in some ways exactly what I was expecting it to be while in other ways not really what I thought it would be, both in good ways. My advisor at RVC has been there for me helping me understand what classes I would need to take to meet my goal of graduating with an associate in science. She has also helped me plan my next steps in figuring out what I will need to continue to my four-year college. Rock Valley has given an overall good experience for my first semester so far and I am pleased to be learning
here.
