Coming into the quarter I had a few goals set for myself as a writer that I wished to accomplish in UWP 001. Some of the goals I wished to accomplish for myself were: a better use of rhetorical devices like tone in my writing and strengthening my sense of audience awareness. I feel like I have made huge strides forward in both these areas of emphases.…
For this task I am going to discuss the function of research in my chosen area of interest.…
The course I was taking was WRTG 101, taking this course helped me out a lot because it improved my writing skills a lot. When I was choosing this course I wanted to develop my ability to write in an effective way. The first hope was that the course will help me to develop my skills in different types of writing and expand my knowledge in different areas. The second hope was that the course will help me to writing full papers that make sense. Also, I hope that this course will help to understand papers written by other people and so that they are more clear to me. After completing the course, I believe that I am successful in achieving my goals of becoming a good writer. When I first started this course, my writing skills were not so good,…

My OT supervisor travels between schools, patients’ homes and the clinic. During the week she travels between five schools, which normally takes a minimum of an hour and a half. Each day, the COTA that I am observing, sees a minimum of six children. On a typical day, she travels school to school in the morning and finishes up her day at the clinic. Most of the children she holds therapy sessions for at the clinic come after their school day is over.…
Last year I wrote a mid-term reflection for my ENC1101 class, and it was a summary of how I didn’t take writing serious. However, I had improved as the semester progressed. In ENC1102 I wrote my first essay, and I received my first C on a paper, and it bothers me. I know I could’ve done way better. All the grammatical errors I exhibiting weren’t intentional, and it could be solved through the reading of my paper out loud. My issues within my paper in regards to my arguments are not a great issue, but I do not incorporate enough evidence to support my claims, hence making my argument diminish in strength. With my second paper, I tried to incorporate more quotes and evidence into paper. I also have tried to include information that was not discussed…

The topic I chose for my research paper was dementia. I was interested in this topic because it came to my attention that my grandmother, who is in her early 70’s, was showing signs of dementia. I wanted to research it so I could find out for about it. Before I researched dementia I only knew a handful of things about treatments, symptoms, and causes. However, after I researched, I found out things that I would never would have imagined to be true. Before I started my research I was hoping to learn more about why there was no cure or if there was an organization that was trying to find the cure. In order to find out information I looked for reliable scientists’ and their research on dementia.…
It is important to remember that research is not just gathering and compiling information: a researcher has to organize the existing information in a meaningful way, analyze the information found, and add an original contribution to the topic. The contribution may be in the form of new facts, viewpoints, or insights. Research often centers on a single central idea, or thesis, that is supported by a thorough presentation of supporting details.…
When reflecting upon my IOP, I final some aspects I exceled in, but I also find some aspects that I somewhat faltered in. I feel that I exceled in my knowledge and understanding of the work and the language criterions. However, I feel that I did not do as well in Criterion B: Presentation. For Criterion A: Knowledge and Understanding of the Work, I would rate myself at an 8. I think I deserve this rating because during my presentation and the Q and A session, I related the pear tree scene to the characterization of Janie. This task requires a strong knowledge and understanding of the novel. I would have rated myself higher, but I forgot to include how my scene relates to the novel as a whole in my presentaion. For Criterion B: Presentation, I would rate myself at a 4 or 5. I gave myself such a low score because I did not have something to engage the audience (PowerPoint, poster). For Criterion C: Language, I would give myself at a 7 or 8, because I think my language was clear and appropriate. During my Presentaion, I use verbs such as exemplifies and demonstrates. In conclusion, I believe I did very well on my IOP.…
