Ethical Gay Marriage Argument
1. Sine 1971 courts have been debating whether same-sex marriage should be legal. Gay marriage has been looked at as wrong in today 's world because it 's not the traditional way of being married. Yet again with all the rights we have acquired over the years in history, why not the right to marry who you love. Whether or not its the traditional way marriage is about being with the person you love for the rest of your life.
2. There are several reasons why gay people should have the same marriage rights as heterosexual individuals do
A. Mislow 's Hierarchy of Needs
I. This model say physiological needs come first
II. Once physiological needs are met humans still need to feel safe
a. self- actualization
b. transcendence
III. People need the feeling of love and sense of belonging
a. Family and Friend relations
b. Meaningful and Sexual relations
B. Civil Rights
I. Visitation rights during time of illness in hospitals
II. The "life line" of you partner
III. In the passing of your partner, the ability to claim their belongings
C. Justice and Marriage as a Changing Institution
I. Both partners are equally obliged to take care of each other
II. People over 60 are allowed to wed, even if biologically incapable of having kids
III. Women and/or men who are infertile
3. On the other hand gay marriage is against the traditional marriage and it puts a stop on natural reproduction
A. Only men and women can reproduce together
B. God and other religions studied in the world say marriage is love between men and women
C. Makes marriage less meaningful
4. In today 's world of marriage, heterosexual or homosexual, they can have kids and be good parents
A. Surrogate mothers
B. Sperm donors
C. Ability and means to raise a kid as if from a normal family
