Everest Simulation Analysis
I think that there are a few important lessons that can be learned from the Everest simulation. The first is that it is important for all group members to be able to speak up, no matter what their rank is, and the second is the importance of good leadership. Our group did not communicate as much as we could have, and we did not express our personal goals to each other. Being the photographer, my goal was to stay at camp 1 and 2 for two nights each. However, my team wanted to push on, so instead of conveying my interest, I stayed quiet and stuck with the team because I believed that they might need my help as we climbed higher. The second thing our group lacked was good leadership. Our leader was very quiet and passive, and did not take charge

Through this group assignment, I really learned much. First, I realize that I should learn more about finance and accounting .when talking about the last part in presentation during discussion, I cannot participate in the debate, and even do not know what they said when comes some proper nouns. Although my major is logistics, it is good for me to learn more about other subject knowledge such as finance and management. Second is although we had discussion many times, we were inefficient and wasted much time. We supposed to have a target or task for each discussion, and leader need to coordinate the meeting. In addition, democracy does not work every time in small group, everyone has a different idea and wants to persuade others, which is the reason that a good leader is very important for a team, so that I should start to train leadership skills. Third is that unity and cooperation are essential to a good team. Team members need to work for…

Improvement ideas include setting a leadership schedule the first week of class, and increased encouragement of team member participation. Leadership improvement would also be beneficial as the leader must support the team and rally them for obtaining the best possible outcome, they must also be careful not to bully them or speak to them as a superior but as a peer.…

In the last few weeks, I and my group members did two Everest stimulations in order to achieve our personal goals as well as common goals to reach the summit. This report will analyses the main findings of the stimulations in three key element, communication, groups and teams, leadership. We split the stimulations into two kinds of communicative ways, face-to-face and electronic communication. In the first stimulation, I achieved 57% of personal goals and the whole team achieved 56% of common goals and it was found that face-to-face communication was an effective and efficient way of communicating in person and the importance of all group members work together as a team to reach higher points and lastly the vary of leadership method. In the second stimulation, I achieved 80% of personal goals and the whole team achieved 41% of the common goals. We were quite not satisfied with this result because of a poor communication due to electronic issues such as internet connection problems and lots conflict experienced due to the method of communication, however the team leader performance was satisfied as the leader made decisions in time.…

I made the campers I helped ecstatic throughout the day. I believe the other staff and I made campers want to come to camp every single day of the summer. In addition, I believe all of the CITs helped the head of the camp tremendously. He told us when we were all finished how much we all helped him this summer. He told us he could not have gone through it without us. This experience should pave my way into a life of helping other young and…

When my alarm clock went off around 7am I peeked outside to find it raining and chilly out. Though it wasn't the best weather I had to suck it up just like everyone else and look forward to the better part of the day. When we first got to the camp we split up in to three groups. My group's first challenge was to try and stand together on a rope with just leaning on each others hand's for support and try to get to the other side of the rope. Every step you took got a little wider and wider so you had to try and figure out what was the key to getting across with out either one of you falling. Only one pair in my group came very close to getting to the end. Through out the challenges I realized they all consisted of working together and team work and…

We also had people that constantly asked questions to the group leader. For example I wasn’t sure about how long we should have for the plan so I asked Khaver for suggestion and he positively told me to allocate as much time as you think will be enough. This made the group more effective because we were all aware of each other’s ability and asking questions only made our time more knowledgeable about the challenge. We also asked questions on who the team leader should be rather than choosing a group leader just because he looks like a leader or acts like a leader, we actually done a vote to decide the group leader. This resulted in an effective team because we all felt that the person leading…

Within the group, a large amount of skills were used. The majority of the group used listening skills, closed and open questioning skills. Opportunities were available where Probing and reflecting could have been put to practise. Other members of the group displayed passive aggressive behaviours , dictated, used aggressive and bullying body / verbal language and actions. In my opinion the members of the group displaying these undesirable traits were not aware they were doing so. Eleni was the most diplomatic member of the group and quashed frustrations which arose between individuals. Too many of the group members were too passive and allowed themselves to be dictated too.…

My third reason is, don’t be a selfish and disrespectful leader. If you are disrespectful and nobody likes you then nobody will follow you and take of what you say. If your selfish, then nobody will feel the need to be there and they won’t think of you as leader. My personal experience with this is, when I was in science class I was doing the whole experiment and the team felt like they were useless, so they just quit and left the experiment to me.…

Nonetheless, through the challenges, I discovered strengths in myself. I have always been mainly a follower because I am easy to get along with. At times this quality has hurt me, but during my time at the camp I was transformed into a leader. The group of volunteers I was working with were not as motivated or passionate as they could have been. I could not do all the work myself, so I took my stand as a leader and motivated the dietary staff team to do their best work. I used my voice to delegate tasks to efficiently get them done, as well as pushing with perseverance when I was beyond the point of exhaustion.…

In the future when I become a licensed counselor I may be asked to lead a counseling group, therefore, it is very important for me to gain as much experience or knowledge on the techniques and strategies which will enable me to be a good and efficient group leader. To help me accomplish this I was asked to observe a group meeting of interest and to learn from my observations. I was to be on the lookout for interaction, behaviors which I felt supported effective group work and interactions, behaviors that hindered effective group work, the group leader’s leadership style, if I would do anything different if I was the group leader, something that resonated with me and finally, how I would use what I observed later when on in my…
