In the last few weeks, I and my group members did two Everest stimulations in order to achieve our personal goals as well as common goals to reach the summit. This report will analyses the main findings of the stimulations in three key element, communication, groups and teams, leadership. We split the stimulations into two kinds of communicative ways, face-to-face and electronic communication. In the first stimulation, I achieved 57% of personal goals and the whole team achieved 56% of common goals and it was found that face-to-face communication was an effective and efficient way of communicating in person and the importance of all group members work together as a team to reach higher points and lastly the vary of leadership method. In the second stimulation, I achieved 80% of personal goals and the whole team achieved 41% of the common goals. We were quite not satisfied with this result because of a poor communication due to electronic issues such as internet connection problems and lots conflict experienced due to the method of communication, however the team leader performance was satisfied as the leader made decisions in time.…

I made the campers I helped ecstatic throughout the day. I believe the other staff and I made campers want to come to camp every single day of the summer. When my alarm clock went off around 7am I peeked outside to find it raining and chilly out. Though it wasn't the best weather I had to suck it up just like everyone else and look forward to the better part of the day. When we first got to the camp we split up in to three groups. My group's first challenge was to try and stand together on a rope with just leaning on each others hand's for support and try to get to the other side of the rope. Every step you took got a little wider and wider so you had to try and figure out what was the key to getting across with out either one of you falling. We also had people that constantly asked questions to the group leader. For example I wasn’t sure about how long we should have for the plan so I asked Khaver for suggestion and he positively told me to allocate as much time as you think will be enough. This made the group more effective because we were all aware of each other’s ability and asking questions only made our time more knowledgeable about the challenge. Within the group, a large amount of skills were used. The majority of the group used listening skills, closed and open questioning skills. Opportunities were available where Probing and reflecting could have been put to practise. Other members of the group displayed passive aggressive behaviours , dictated, used aggressive and bullying body / verbal language and actions. In my opinion the members of the group displaying these undesirable traits were not aware they were doing so. My third reason is, don’t be a selfish and disrespectful leader. If you are disrespectful and nobody likes you then nobody will follow you and take of what you say. If your selfish, then nobody will feel the need to be there and they won’t think of you as leader. Nonetheless, through the challenges, I discovered strengths in myself. I have always been mainly a follower because I am easy to get along with. At times this quality has hurt me, but during my time at the camp I was transformed into a leader. The group of volunteers I was working with were not as motivated or passionate as they could have been. I could not do all the work myself, so I took my stand as a leader and motivated the dietary staff team to do their best work.
