The main reason we used evidence based practice is to reduce recidivism. In order to do this we have to Figure out what intervention will work best for an offender knowing that it could be very difficult because there are so many different types of offenders in the world. Since we know of all the different types of offenders we have in the world, evidence based practices make us sure that we are using the right evidence and approaches to cure the specific offender and we are not going through trial and error interventions. This could also come into play when dealing with a victim or community that has been effected and is required to go through an intervention. These practices are also important in criminal justice settings because it allows us to look deeply into resources we use to achieve the outcome that can lower the chances of an offender offending again, or even curing a victim. Along with this, these practices help us be sure that we are doing the right thing because we can look back on the mistakes that our past employees have made when they were dealing with the similar kind of person. It is important that when an organization or system is using these principles they are maintaining the supervision and interventions with their client to be sure that what they are doing will work. The eight evidence based principles are Assess Actuarial Risk/Needs, enhance intrinsic motivation, target interventions, skill train with directed practice, increase positive reinforcement, engage ongoing support in natural communities, measure relevant processes/ practices and provide measurement feedback. There are two of these evidence based practices that I would like to talk about that interest me the most and that I personally feel will definitely impact the offenders risk when trying to reduce recidivism. These two practices are enhancing intrinsic motivation and providing feedback. Obviously all eight of these practices are very important for an effective intervention with someone that has done something wrong. The two that I have chosen are things that I personally think I would be good at if I were to apply them during an
