Stanford University is my first school of choice because it hosts one of our nation’s top medical schools which means that it has plenty of research and clinical experience opportunities. Stanford also has a designated pre-med community and has established partnerships with academic departments, student
groups, and community organizations. Their pre-med community seems particularly organized and cohesive which would help me immensely in my transition as a transfer student.
Columbia University's School of General Studies is my second school of choice. One of the factors that appeal to me most about this school is that it is geared towards non-traditional students such as myself. Columbia also assigns a pre-med advisor to each student pursuing pre-med, and the NYC location provides many opportunities for clinical and research opportunities.
My third school of choice is Cornell University. Cornell has a very special place in my heart because this was my school of choice in High School. What I love about it is that it is fairly isolated which in turn provides a greater sense of community. Cornell is home to some of the most innovating research and its medical school provides many opportunities to do just that. Cornell also has a health careers program that offers advising, programs, information, and an Evaluation Committee.
