I currently work at Tennessee Prison for Women as the Classification Counselor were male officers and staff member work with the female offenders. But when I worked at my local Sheriff Department female officers were not allowed to work with male offenders in any form, and male officers were not allowed to work with female offenders at any time, other than the supervisor when need by the female officer. In these two examples, we see that the State of Tennessee has ensured that they are treating all staff members in the same manner by providing that they have the policies that they need to tell them how to perform their job around offenders of the opposite sex. But with the jail, we see these female officers are restricted in their job duties because they are not able unable to work with the entire population of offenders reducing their job skills and abilities lower than that of the male officers and can affect their possibilities of promotion when the opportunity is available for them to attempt
