(Weaver et al., 2010). Throughout this unit I have developed skills to use and evaluate online sources of information not only for academic purposes but for social and personal interests too. The purpose of this paper is to reflect on my experiences from this unit by discussing how I have developed skills in finding, using and evaluating online sources of information for academic purposes. The scope of this paper will begin by discussing how my use of online sources has developed over the period of the course. It will then examine how Metzgar (2007) has influenced my ability to search and evaluate the credibility and reliability of various online sources. Finally, I will identify the advantages and limitations I faced whilst working in an online collaborative community and how I dealt with those circumstances.…

Come college years and I’ve been left by time. Professors and fellow students use this thing called the “Internet” to exchange ideas, assignments, projects etc. Networking sites sprouted and brought about convenience in the passage of information from one person to another. Our teacher created email groups (Yahoo! groups were popular then), blog sites, and networking sites such as Facebook and Friendster, to announce assignments or examinations and sometimes, create a trending topic that we can all react and give our ideas to. These tools helped me and my classmates stir up the way we experience learning.…

First I want to tell you with whom I honor, with whom I have, learned to respect, and who deserve the outmost admirations. The teachers I am talking about work hard to do a great job, because, above all, it is a kind of responsibility so to speak towards their students and relevantly toward themselves. I have had several teachers in my years as a student both in the primary and secondary schools among which there were only few whom I felt to fit the description above, maybe most of them were good in their own way, but one cannot be sufficient in all ways or I may also have misunderstood them. However, the teacher that I chose as deserving of the “My Favorite Teacher” earned this title due to the care she showed to each of her students through her teaching, personality, and the all the fun had in her class is Ms. Fleming my writing teacher. Ms. Fleming is an open minded, caring person who seemed to love what she is doing. Ms. Fleming is more than a teacher to me; she is a person you could go to with a problem and she would try and help you find the answer. She would help you, but expected you to put the work into finding out for yourself how to do something. She always came across as someone who cared about every student as if they were her “children”. Ms. Fleming is like a book that gives you the right information that would help you on getting a six on the FCAT writing. About 95% of her student’s agree that Ms. Fleming spent each day preparing us for the FCAT writing in thirteen days. The first time I walked into the classroom I notice a flaming red headed teacher sitting down. I thought that she would be a boring, and mean teacher giving her student’s a lot of homework and essays to write. Every word that comes out of her mouth sounds like music to my brain. When it comes to teaching she doesn’t let out a lot of stress, most of the stress comes from whether or not her student’s would receive a four or higher on the FCAT writing. When I’m in class Ms. Fleming have…

Technology has developed tremendously the past decade, more so than it has in the past, and a variety of businesses are being challenged in this area. People from all over the world are constantly innovating new ideas, brainstorming on how to interact more efficiently, than and as fast as they or it possibly can. In order to do this, individuals must communicate with one another, using resources and updated tools to drive out the competition. Technology has changed business in many ways, but its affect on communication is arguably the most significant (Morley, 2013). Also, the skill to speak plainly and supportive is one of the talents that businesses look for in employees. The use of technology can assist students, companies, and computer gurus with communicating, which will lessen the time it takes. The use of social media in the workplace has elevated concerns about loss of time and productivity. However, our study reveals that at the workplace, social media is being increasingly used by professionals for multitasking and for better time management. (Revathy, 2012) Technology can also have penalties that diminish relationships without the tool as a mediator. There are positive, negative, and gray areas when discussing social networking, social media, and how it has affected businesses or the populace in general.…

Social media is the various online tools available, which enable user to communicate and share resources (Jobsearch.about.com, 2013). Due to consumer demand and the popularisation of social media, South African online advertising grew by 32% in 2008(The Guardian, 2010). However, not everyone will continue to stay. Although, incentives such as competitions will create hype, many will deviate from the intended retention. The idea is to make content relevant to its community. About 15% of social media users prefer e-mail as a way of communication. This also brings an advantage of bypassing the firewalls of corporates. It is also important to recognise achievements of members within the community. This will create an influence if the content is strategic. Feedbacks from these communities are invaluable. Collectively, a large portion of knowledge and influence with regard to a product/service can be detected within the community. Online communities relish honesty. By accepting responsibility for mistakes and then rectifying them, a good relationship is built (Cerebra, 2011).…
