The art of procrastination has troubled high school kids for quite some time now. Im sitting here typing my own essay at the eleventh hour, hoping that as the deadline approaches I can piece together an essay to save my grade. “Procrastination is for the efficient at heart”, this quote captures the procrastinators only strength: the ability to make the most out of the time they have. Most students will crack as the pressure of meeting the deadline with quality work overbears them, as they regretfully wish they spent their time wiser. Few will rise up to the challenge and meet the standards, but what separates the students who succeed and those who miserably fail?…

“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” essay was the only thing I was concerned with that night. Finishing it, handing it in, and voila, I’m done. But for me, it was always more complicated than that. Procrastination is practically my middle name. After what seemed like an eternity of blankly staring at the computer screen, the phone rang. All of my limbs felt unnaturally stiff as I went to retrieve the phone.…

It was the morning of move in day. I said goodbye to my home and headed out. I passed the local shopping market and my high school where I enjoyed a fun four years. As I headed to Norman I realized I was leaving everything I had ever known. All my life has consisted of living in the same house, going to school with the same kids, and going to the same supermarkets and restaurants. While I’d like to say I have developed a good idea of the world around me by visiting so many cities around the United States, in reality the only world I’ve ever known is the same one I have spent my whole life in. I have loved growing up in Northwest Oklahoma City with the friends that have helped shaped me into who I am today, however I relished the opportunity…

College has affected me in many ways. First off it has thought me to be more responsible. When you’re in college you are responsible for adding and dropping your classes no one does it for you, so if you don’t want a W on your transcript you will pay attention to all the dates the college provides to drop on time. Second reason it has allowed me to learn things that I thought I would never be interested in. When taking general ed classes you have to choose classes not by choice but because they are required for your degree and or to transfer to a four year college. I really wasn’t a fan of my Political Science class but it taught me how are country is ran and what makes up a government it…

The most comprehensive review to date on the question of the impact of college is found in Ernest Pascarella and Patrick Terenzini's book, How College Affects Students. They used over twenty-six thousand practical studies completed over a period of 50 years in order to what aspects of a person's life is affected during college. They concluded that an individual's cognitive skills and intellectual growth; changes of identity, self-concept, and self-esteem; changes in relating to others and the people around them, attitudes and values, moral development, career choice and development, economic benefits, and quality of life after college are all affected while the student attends college.…

Some things I have learned in college this year, it has been lit and laid back. Not what a normal college student would say I agree. There’s been days I regret that I stayed up way to late hanging with the boys doing what college kids normally do. But you can’t go wrong with a couple of beer and blunt or two, to help kick off with the next day, right? I go to class, never missed a day make decent grades, and put forth my effort and strive for the best. Speaking of that, striving is excellent in the making. Doing what’s best and studying hard takes lots of self-discipline. Being I’m 20 I’ve been stoned half my life, momma didn’t raise a fool I get the job done. I learn a few things here and there, how to cope with people is one. Why let someone close to you when they leave in the end? Why tell someone so much to just be traded and left for dead? College is joke they don’t test you for what the instructor taught you. It’s all about your memory and the things you store in your head. It’s all a card game got to know which one to play or how you deal the next hand, just like the ones you played when you were a kid.…

Learning was difficult when I was younger, which allowed me to appreciate learning in college. As a child, I did not like the process of learning, having to be wrong or right and having to retain the information. I would be embarrassed about having the wrong answer since for everyone else, it seemed as if the material just clicked for them. In turn, I would lie to my teachers when they asked if I understood it as I did not want them to slow down just for me. Then, I’d go home to learn it with the assistance of my family. Slowly, I learned how to learn in a classroom setting and how to ask for help. My mother would always tell me to ask questions when I did not understand. I still hesitate when I ask questions in class.…
