are looked after and conducted.
Check that health and safety protections are in place to help capable people.
Insure that training and clear information is given for staffs. Another policy under the health and safety is that all staff knows the possible hazards inside the nursery and the surrounding environment and most protect the children from the hazards. And to do that there aim is to offer all staff with first aid training. Accidents and any cases are recorded in the ‘Accident Report Book’
All the accidents that happen in the nursery are correctly informed to the parent/carer as soon as it happens. All the staffs that work in the nursery are aware that if any particular bodily fluids are spread around, they will be infected. Some of the objectives that the nursery aims to improve are:
To include and support nursery staff in all matters in relation to Health & Safety.
To stop incidents, wounds and ill-health and to spot and remove dangerous conditions.
To achieve a great level of specialized health, safety, well-being and hygiene.
To be in charge in situations that is most likely to be dangerous to health and safety in the nursery or that can cause harm to the children and stuffs
To be able to give a safe and healthy environment to the children.
The policy for the health and social care setting meets the legislation, because the nursery make sure that they protect the children and they make sure the children feel safe in the environment that they are in. There haven’t been any complaints that state that the nursery doesn’t meet the legislation. Therefore, they follow and meet the legislation. Furthermore, one of the nursery ‘s policies, is to be aware of the potential hazards in the environment, this policy has been met by the nursery legislation, and the policy is to keep individuals away from hazards in the environment and keeping them from harm.
One thing that the legislation gives is before working they need to go through induction (in this induction they must show them all the emergency exists just in case there is fire. First aids kits most also been shown, fires extinguish and finally they need to learn the school polices. Signs need to be somewhere all the employers working can see so they wouldn’t any slips and causes of an injury.
Another policy that this nursery has is that they must take responsibility for any injuries or diseases that happen in the nursery that the children may become victim to. They have to take care of the children and make sure that nothing bad happens to them and call the parents or career of the child and tell them what has happened. The nursery‘s manager are in charge to keep the children safe from any illness or injuries.
The legislation of this policy should be report to the following local council or the health and safety executive:
Death or severe wounds should be reported
Someone being absent because of an incident and that keeping them away from work for three or more days should be reported .
Reportable diseases
Possible dangers that occurs and doesn’t lead to injuries or death.
These following are very important to be sent off to the local council because they will discover how, where and why it happened and investigate it.
The legislation meets the policy because every individual that applies for the nursery, their parents most sign a terms and condition paper in case ,given by the nursery , this means that the nursery and the parents both agree that if any problems happen, the right action will be taken to provide the best safety for their children.
One very important legislation promoted by the nursery is that once the accident is sorted that the same thing wouldn’t happen again, and it has to be recorded so that both the nursery and the parents have reference of the incident and can avoid future accident.
Food awareness is another procedure that the nursery takes very seriously in account. It is essential that the food that is given to the children is safely clean and has not been contaminated so that no one would get ill by eating the foods provided by the nursery. Also, the right food must be provided at the right time of the day as breakfast is the most important meal of the day so that should be providing so that the child has enough energy learn.
The legislation of this is the food safety (general food hygiene) regulations 1995. This aims to stop any food that has poising inside of it by specifying that:
Areas that foods are installed should be kept at a clean hygiene standard
Foods are prepared carefully.
The right temperature must be maintained at the right time.
Cross-contaminated must be stopped.
The policy meets the legislation because all children are all in good health. Also because food preparation in the nursery is always keep at the highest possible hygiene and there hasn’t been any complaint.
The legislation promotes health and safety because the food that is been given to the children have preferences. For example halal, vegetarians, allergies etc. This makes the children in the nursery feel welcomed and safe as they have different choices of food to eat from. To avoided food contamination food has to be cooked properly. And also to avoid illnesses and disease
General, the health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures promotes the safety of children because they all involve helping children have a better healthy and safe life , and not getting bad treatments from anyone including teachers in the nursery .
It also boosts people because the nursery cares for children, as well as caring about their duties and responsibilities. The people will feel confident and encouraged because they will acknowledge the fact that they are being looked after properly. This is a good thing because it makes individuals feel safe and not paranoid about anything in the nursery. This relates to the health and social care setting as making people feel safe in the environment that there in. that it encourages them to attend to future appointments. For example, if a patient in a hospital feels welcomed and cared for, they wouldn’t think twice about visiting the hospital again because it’s a safe environment to be in and they feel welcomed. This will also benefit the hospital’s
reputation.
