Explain How Multi Agency Teams Work Together

Multi-agency teams help bring together practitioners from different sectors and professions to create an integrated way of working to support everyone in their speech, language and communication. It helps ensure that children and young people who need additional support have exactly the right professionals to support them as and when needed and everyone knows who is doing what when. To support speech a speech therapist may be sought out, they would work alongside other health professionals, nurses, doctors and psychologists. Who in turn would also liaise with the school and parent/guardian to help the child or young person in question. The therapist along with a team of professional will share information and support one another so the childâ€TMs
needs are met and are addressed efficiently and effectively. All of the agencies involved in the work will meet regularly to discuss the child or young personâ€TMs needs, to set objectives, goals and targets and decide on how it will be done and when. The varying aspects of multi-agency team helps the child or young person get the best support possible as they bring in their expertise and insight. It allows for support of the parent or carer and will address the problems fully rather than piece by piece over time.
