What do robotic arms, super computers, and scanners have to do with medicine? They are all used to enhance the quality of people’s lives! Through the use of technology, the medical field has changed incredibly. Treating diseases has become easier than before. In addition to that, diagnosing patients in a doctor’s office or in a hospital has also been refined. Moreover, even saving people’s lives during emergencies has been improved with the addition of medical technology. With these technologies, doctors are able to be more efficient and productive, therefore being able to treat more patients in less time and save more money. Treating diseases with new machines are becoming increasingly common in most hospitals today. Old tools are becoming obsolete and are being replaced in favor of new, efficient, technology that gives incredible results. For example, older surgical techniques are being replaced by keyhole surgery; in which cuts are made as small as possible with the assistance of lasers and robotic arms. The newer technology allows first responders to assess problems on the scene even before transporting people to the nearest hospital. Specifically defibrillators, 12-lead ECGs (shows a 3-D image of the entire heart), and Veti-Gel; a cream-like, plant-based substance which can patch up wounds, which may be used by paramedics and emergency workers soon. It is also proven that people treated with medical technology on the scene and then sent to a hospital have a higher survival rate than people sent to a hospital alone. Ramps, lifts, and airlifting can be used to load people onto a ambulances/air vehicles and to a hospital safer and quicker than without it. As proven by this information, medical technology has greatly benefited the way emergency health workers save people’s
