The nano’s argument is that the Paul’s perspective that Christianity has been trumped by certain quarters as being a “replacement” to Judaism. But, Nano happily suggests that Christians can learn more about Judaism by reading Paul. For Nano’s, Paul was understood as a strict follower of the Torah or, at least, an observant Jew, but the proposal of law free-living is not for the Jew but for the non-Jews. This is where Nano’s brought so many Jews and non-Jews perspective, this is a strange but worth reading, that Paul is “involved in the spread of first-century Judaism from the perspective of a Jewish coalition” (167). Nano’s explains that this “a temporary group committed to a specific task” within and on behalf of the larger Jewish community”…
First of all, intelligent design claims that intelligent causes are necessary to explain the complexity-rich structures of the life surrounding us and it harbors on the idea of irreducible complexity. Irreducible complexity states how a single system is composed of several well-matched interacting parts that contribute to a basic function, and removal of any one of the parts causes the system to not work properly. Believers of intelligent design think that some biological aspects are too complicated to have evolved on their…
Another philosopher of science, Nancy Cartwright, also argues against the unity of science by stating that the laws of physics do not define the laws of nature. She states “Nature does not ‘add’ forces. For the ‘component’ forces are not there, in any but a metaphorical sense, to be added; and the laws which say they are there must be also given a metaphysical reading” (Cartwright, 875). Cartwright distinguishes between two ways of thinking about laws. The first way is that “fundamental” laws are those hypothesized by the realists, and they are meant to describe the actual structure of the universe. The second way is that “phenomenological” laws, these laws are useful for making empirical predictions.…
According to reports yesterday, July 23, 2013—the rubout argument has been proven by the investigative team. For this essay, the question will be—“Is it right to kill criminals?”…
The dialogue of The Crito evaluates one of the last days of Socrates life. Upon which, Socrates has been awaiting his execution for a month due to a religious mission to the island of Delios, sacred to Apollo during which no executions can take place, insinuating that Socrates has had much time to ponder his sentence and escape, as well as the result of further action. Crito eagerly attempts persuading Socrates to escape by presenting many gripping arguments. Socrates responds to these arguments by asking/interrogating Crito with questions surrounding pressing life principles that both men agree on and by doing so provides an argument against Crito’s encouragements of escape.…
The cosmological argument seeks to prove the existence of God on the basis that the universe has not always been in existence and so for it to be created, an external cause was necessary; this outside agent is viewed as God. It creates à posteriori knowledge which provides inductive explanations and makes conclusions on ideas based on actual experiences. It is a non-propositional argument so it cannot be proven but can be argued by offering experience as support.…
Science works within the frameworks of pre-existing assumptions and for Darwin’s theory to work it is on the condition that there is teleology in nature. Organisms survive because they are teleological as opposed to stating they are teleological because they survived. There is no escaping the fact that the universe is an intelligent design which must have been created by an intelligent designer (McGrath, 2010). This assumption explains it existence and what it is while the cosmic design describes why it is this…
Once explained I will put forward my argument against these with the support of arguments from the likes of Hume, Darwin and Dawkins.…
Most notably, intelligent design is a theory which has gained much support in modern circles, and attempts to account for flaws in strictly materialistic or teleological views of the universe. Intelligent Design accepts Darwinian evolution as an account referring to the development of life in the universe. The theory also accepts however, that evolution is a strictly materialistic view of the universe and is flawed in its ability to explain life's origins. Intelligent Design looks to teleological evidence to explain the origin of life and the mind behind Darwinian evolution.…
Although he was not arguing for an Abrahamic God, future followers of the Abrahamic religions adopted his analogy and adapted it to suit their beliefs. One of these followers was William Paley. In The Evidence of Design, he compounded the thought of the Anaxagoras’ nous and Cicero’s analogy of a sundial to deliver an argument for an intelligent designer. He claims that if an individual was walking on a beach and encountered a rock, the person would think that the rock was natural and had laid there forever. In contrast, if one were to find a watch laying in the sand, they would not doubt that an intelligent designer created it. He claims that we can look at the universe just as we would view the watch, and comprehend that an intelligent designer drafted the universe. He asserts that this understanding would be self-evident and…
The paradox of tolerance was created by Karl Popper, on whether or not people should tolerate the intolerable. His main reason for this concern of toleration is as states, “Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance.” Practically stating that, tolerance will no longer exist if people are tolerant to the intolerant. He believes and states, “We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerable.” So, from his statement he is saying that people should not tolerate the intolerable, but there are questions that can be raised from that statement that will be discussed later on. My stance with this paradox of tolerance is I agree with it, but I also disagree, in the fact that this paradox…
According to Ernst Mayr, biological essentialism is rampant. For example a living rabbit is an imperfect version of the ideal specimen that doesn’t really exist. But yet all real rabbits will be compared to this ideal rabbit. Because real rabbits have a good amount of variation, this is seen as a flaw due to biological essentialism. Any deviation from the ideal rabbit is a defect. Essentialists are greatly opposed to change, which is what drives evolution. From an evolutionary point of view, a deviation from the known form brings forth the possibility for new species. Without any variations, there would be no…
Jack white, he's a musician a great guitarist he played in the white stripes . in documentary called it might get loud he said ”Technology is a big destroyer of emotion and truth. Auto-tuning doesn’t do anything for creativity. Yeah, it makes it easier and you can get home sooner, but it doesn’t make you a more creative person. That’s the disease we have to fight in any creative field” This makes me think people are alway on their phone not talking to the person next to them. Also the music is all made in computers they don't know how to use a real instruments. People are being slaves with technology all around them…
Recently, on a trip to New York City, I chatted up a couple of pedestrians. At one point, the bearded man burst out, “India? Isn’t that near Egypt or something?” I paused a little and the familiar ‘Americans do not know their geography’ comment flared up in my mind. But that would be a generalisation, a stereotype… ugly, vicious, reeking of evil. The unspeakable sentences. Realm of internet trolls and ignorant illiterates.…
