Explain The Five Stages Of Team Development And Behaviour
There are five stages to team development and behaviour. These are titled as ‘Forming’, ’Storming’, ‘Norming’, ‘Performing’ and ‘Adjourning’. The first stage is ‘Forming’; this is when the team forms. Generally behaviour is polite and positive at this stage. This stage can last for quite some time as the team members start to get to know each other and the role within the team. The second is ‘Storming’, so called because the team can start to clash and rebel against the boundaries set during the forming stage. Many teams will fail at this stage. The third stage is ‘Norming’, this is where the team starts to normalise, resolve their differences and work successfully together.
