Explain What Knowledge Gained When Creating The Nifty Lifting Machine
Nifty Lifting Machine Report Questions

Use complete sentences to answer the questions.

Explain what knowledge was gained when creating the prototype of the nifty lifting machine.
Creating the prototype helped with gaining knowledge on the actual machine. By creating a prototype first, the group learned that with the actual project the group would need to make a stable and a supported base, or nothing would work properly. With the prototype the group learned, once the group made the base stronger, stiffer, and able to support weight well, the complex machine would be able to lift more than the required amount of weight because the prototype could lift the required amount of weight.

How was knowledge gained from the prototype applied in the design of the final product?

The group understood the group would need to have a strong base, so originally the group brought in a twenty-five pound weight to put on the base. The project was not stable still, so the group looked at the prototype and the group realized that the group needed a platform for the project. With knowledge gained the group decided to bring in a plywood board for the base of the project.

What was the division of ideas, labor and materials per person among your group? (can be first person)
The division of ideas, labor, and materials per person among my group was equal. For labor, Matt and I both took the project home once, and we also worked on the project together at Matt's house once. Materials were brought in by both Matt and I, but Matt brought in more than I did. Ideas were equal throughout the entire group. I came up with the main idea to our design, but Matt came up with many ideas that helped our project that I would not thought of.

The original stage of team building is the forming stage. In this stage our group was not exactly sure what this project would entail and what work was ahead of us. We were all polite and on our best behavior making contact with the rest of the group. There was a positive and high expectation that we would be successful and develop an outstanding service learning project. In this stage our roles were not clearly defined. This lead to us mostly working independently and gaining an understanding for the project and what to expect for ourselves.…

Homework assignments and projects will be group work. But, no free riders please! Every one in the group should contribute equally. Even though in general each member in a group will get the same grade as others, if a certain member did not do his/her share, the other group members could remove him/her from the group and this individual would obtain zero grade. The instructor may also demand the group members to state their individual contributions to the project/assignment in order to determine a fair distribution of the grades.…

Firstly, we decided that each person developed an own idea about the financial report and accounting challenge. Then we intended to assign tasks for every group member accounting to structure which included in task details. Each person should analyze their own point about challenge and we allocated group parts, such as introduction, by personal willing. I took responsibility of making a conclusion of report and making up all parts from others. Other members took care of title, executive summary, introduction , methodology etc. Basically, we did work as a group. We would share our ideas though group message. For example, we tried to avoid to talk about the same point when we did our personal parts. When we finished everyone’s issues, we combined those 5 ideas together. And then we could continue to write down introduction or conclusion.…

During the forming stage, the team showed hard work ethic. Rules were put into place that all members agreed to keep. The rules mainly consisted of communicating any issues, and have the assignment done to be put together two days before the due date. Assignments were done with ease. The quality of work was excellent, and finished on time. As assignments started to get harder the team moved into the storming stage. A higher expectation was given with the assignments, as the assignment began to be more demanding. The team members had to plan in order to be on the same page with the assignments. Each member had great enthusiasm and ideas of what would be a great plan for the assignments. While different ideas came, the group had to agree on one plan. This put some of the team members on edge, because of the differences in ideas. The team struggled on a few assignments, but still got good grades. As this happened, the students went into the norming stage of development. All members of the group started to trust the other member’s ideas and became open to doing work in different ways. The team had to work together rather than individually at this point in order to be on the same page. The work became easy and enjoyable for…

I remember a time in school when we had to do a project with a team of classmates. We were supposed to come up with an idea for a business and set up everything about the business such as the name, type of business, how it would be managed and so on. There were four students in the group and we were able to get many different ideas about what type of business we should have and what the names would be. Each person was able to be in charge of different parts of assignment, and that way no one was required to do a large amount of work in a set time. Although we did get an A, there were some failures as well. Some students in the group were more willing to give input and weren’t afraid to speak up about their ideas. Others had to be pushed for ideas and tended to go along with what the others thought was a good decision even if they might not have agreed. Even when it was time to divvy of the work, there were discrepancies. I particularly didn’t like the idea of giving each person something different to do, only because some in the group didn’t really care about the project as much as others and I felt they weren’t trying their best on their part. It might have been better in my opinion to work…

The Health Fair Presentation project was one of my favorite assignments so far in my college career. I have never really been a fan of group projects because there is rarely an even work distribution; and being the student that I am, I usually end up doing the most work. However, this was not the case in my groups project. We all did a fairly even amount of work. Our group started out with four people, which is already a smaller group compared to some other, and one student dropped the course half way into the project so we ended up doing our project in a group of three. There were five jobs to split up and we all picked up the slack to make sure the project was done on time, and done well.…

How to divide the assignment up among group members was another issue the group had to overcome. Once we decided the part that each group member would complete, each member completed his or her part and submitted as his or her part of the final assignment. When a portion of the assignment was published, each group member would give their thoughts, ideas, and opinions on any changes that might need to be made. In order for this to work, all members agreed that critiques or criticism must be made in a positive manner.…

As part of my Business Innovation Development Project Unit, I had the opportunity to put myself into group with my friends or people I believed I could work well with. In the first stages of our group we all tried to get to know each other more through analysing personality and learning types’ test that we previously undertook. I realise we were going through the normal stages of the team formation in particular forming and norming (Tuckman, 1965). In my assignment group we had all Belbin team roles which helped us perform well throughout our project and also helped us to identify other team members’ behavioural strengths and weaknesses. During the initial stages of the group getting together I believed it was important that we all had a clear objective and somewhat of a pathway of what we wanted to achieve and that everyone shared duties within the group. My group members had roles such as researching the market to see if there is a demand for Youni which was our product for university students, they also dealt with the financial side of our product and making analysis between our product and our competitor’s product.…

This was a group project for school where we had to give a presentation in front of the class on a subject where we each had to present out part. 1.
