Explain Why I Am Not In Good Physical Condition
I am not in good physical condition. Between being lazy, going to school full-time, and coming back from a sports injury it is for sure a recipe for a bad physical condition. I knew I needed to start improving my physical condition after I made a sprint down the sideline, chasing after the soccer ball in my game last Saturday. I realized that this time, it was not my asthma to fault, in any case it was my physical condition. But I’ve never been the type to set aside time to actually work on my fitness, I would much rather be at home watching TV. Laziness is a major part of the motivation behind why I am in such bad condition today. Like most athletes, I’m not a tremendous fan of practices but rather I am of games. Regardless of what my coaches or even my dad tells me, I do not like to …show more content…
But I never have time for that! I commute to school, so it takes me a good hour or so. Since I commute, school is also a reason why I’m in such horrible condition. When I come home, I am always tired, and ready for a nap. I also made the mistake of taking easy classes first, and putting off the hard ones, so now I’m taking most of the hard classes. Most of those classes also assign a lot of homework, so when I come home I do as much homework as I can before I fall asleep. Ever since I graduated high school, I haven’t caught a break in school. I’ve been taking classes non-stop, with the hopes of graduating within two years from the nursing program. So even though it is a reason why I am in bad condition, and a reason why I got injured, I wouldn’t put school on hold for something that is not a that huge of necessity, like my physical condition . I tore my Anterior Crucial Ligament (ACL) in my right knee in October of 2015 during college soccer season. I had surgery in December of 2015 and I recently got released to start playing again, so I had restrictions regarding my physical condition up until

Even though I was afraid of doing these activities I was still determined to get back to my normal self. Like with basketball my friends would bring out the court and play on it but once they were gone I had practice my shots so my arms wouldn't get weak. Also, is even when I couldn't shoot I would sit down and just dribble the ball. Second, is when I had football practice I couldn't go because of the injury that accrued with my stomach…

It is one of the most underrated troubles. For it causes many issues in the world, though the blame always seems to fall upon some other reason of cause. Laziness causes people to not want to fulfill their wildest dreams to refusing to do necessary duties. On the island of the lotus eaters, Odysseus faces laziness at its most extreme. The lotus flowers cause people to magically lose their longing for home. Sailors don’t have much control over their laziness, for it was forced upon them by way of magic lotus flowers from the natives. My troubles with laziness come from giving up because something is “too hard”, when really I just am being lazy. It causes me to not work as hard as I should to achieve my goal of having a happy and healthy lifestyle. Laziness in Odysseus’ story and mine are similar because we both lose the lust for our goal. Luckily we can both overcome laziness with hard work and determination, even if Pandora releases it from the box…

All went well. A couple days later I went over to the Orthopedic Institute of Ohio, also known as OIO, and had my MRI read by Dr. William Sanko. There is when I received news that I would soon realize would change my life forever. I had a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a torn meniscus. I was sad and didn’t know what to expect. The recovery time was six to seven months and I didn’t want to be out that long. We as a family had to make the decision of when to schedule my surgery. Our homecoming was coming up. Being a girl, this was important to me. Unfortunately, I did not get to attend my homecoming. I had my surgery January 29th. I felt I handled the mental struggle of it pretty well. I pushed myself to get back in therapy. I did well with the pain through therapy and I came back quick. I came back five months later and was able to play volleyball my sophomore year.…

Although I have had many injuries growing up, there is one that particularly changed my life for the better. The injury occurred when I was playing eighth grade football. It was August and we were scrimmaging Westfield; a very good team that had a lot of big players. The coach called me onto the field to play fullback, which means that I was probably going to carry the football. As I was running onto the field my heart started to beat a little faster. I had a bad feeling about getting the ball. I thought that I was going to get hurt because on the play prior the fullback ahead of me injured his knee on a run. Everything went well for the first few plays, but on the fifth play the coach called a fullback run. My heart was racing, at the snap of the ball I ran ahead for about an eight yard gain, but on the way down I felt a horrible pain in my right foot. I ended up going to the hospital a half an hour later, the doctor said that I had multiple fractures (6 to be exact), possibly some torn ligaments, and a dislocation of a few bones. I really did a number on myself. The doctor claimed to me that I would be out for at least 6 weeks, which is over halfway through the regular season. The doctor also highly recommended that I go see a sports injury specialist, or a foot specialist.…

Most people will think of physical wellness as how they are feeling, whether they are sick, tired, or injured in some sort of way. According to Harper, he defines physical wellness as the ability to perform daily activities in a safe, capable, and efficient manner, as well as the physical capacity to respond effectively in unusual situations (2008). Harper further mentions that there are five components of physical wellness, such as cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition, and flexibility. If a person does not have physical wellness then they are at an increased risk of a lifestyle disease such as hypokinetic disease, diabetes, and obesity. Qualities of a person that inhibits physical wellness, as discussed by the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research are controlling your weight, combating health conditions and diseases, improves your mood, boosts your energy, sleep better, put the spark back into your love life, and physical fitness can be fun (2011). Furthermore the general goal is to aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day in order to attain the above qualities (Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research, 2011). One way of getting started into a goal of being physically well is to check your Body Mass Index (BMI), hip to waist circumference, and partaking in…

My junior year in high school I took two classes from teachers who gave immense amounts of work on difficult material. The classes were Honors Pre-Calculus and Advanced Biological Studies II. After a day at school and a demanding golf practice until dark, it was time to start my homework. By then I was already exhausted, but I still had hours of homework ahead of me. Most schools nights I would not be able to start my hefty pile of homework until 8 o'clock. Many nights the strenuous assignments given in Honors Pre-calculus and Advanced Biological Studies II kept me awake late into the night, even as late as 4 am. It was difficult struggling to stay awake and complete my strenuous workload after an entire day of activity. A full night of sleep…

Junior year was here and I hadn’t played in a single game. While at soccer practice, yes I still attended even though I was on crutches and couldn’t play, my mom called me to tell me the results of it my injury. No one had thought it was my Anterior Cruciate Ligament, but it was. It had been completely torn in half and I needed surgery for it to be repaired. He had already put in my name and date for the surgery and everything. I felt like I was paralyzed from the head down. I couldn’t help but feel so torn up about not being able to play the whole season. I decided after the surgery I would try my hardest to recover and build my self better than what I was. I went to physical therapy every day I needed to and finished…

Unfortunately, halfway through the season I was unable to play: the pain and discomfort were occurring too often and were disrupting my every activity. My coach was cold and focused on winning and when he noticed me faltering on the field, he pulled me out for the rest of the season. For the next 6 weeks, I spent nearly every day standing by the bench in the cold October weather, forced to support my teammates this way.…

While the end of the season was going on, I started going back to physical therapy, this time for about eight months. Even at physical therapy I failed. I couldn’t lift as much as I used to and my pain tolerance was diminishing instead of increasing. I thought the one thing I relied so heavily on was going to be over. The doctors told me that if I was operated on, I would ruin what they fixed after a six-month recovery. Needless to say surgery wasn’t…
