We have been taught organizational success is built on team dynamics, Scott has embraced this principle. Scott’s position in the Coast Guard requires him to provide electronic communication and navigational support for the largest maritime field command Department of Homeland Security has on the East Coast. This requires collaborating with many resources. Recently Scott responded to a Coast Guard Patrol Boat fiber optic compass casualty which crippled this asset and impaired the organization’s operation. Even though this was outside Scott’s area of electronic duties, his reclaimed can-do attitude and innovative spirit gathered sacred resources to repair this indispensable system. This was a display of optimizing organization effectiveness by leveraging talented staff to execute repairs which ultimately reduced costs while maintaining quality.
