The Roman Empire was a very strong civilization in 100 C.E. but as everyone knows, all good things must come to an end. The Roman Empire fell because of many reasons including disasters such as earthquakes and plagues. But I will not be focusing on that in this essay because those are not the most important, I believe the most important was a weak leadership due to that reason having a ripple effect.
To begin with, weak leadership in the Roman Empire was one of the main causes to the fall of Rome. In a chart compiled from various sources the Roman Emperors from 235-285 C.E. In this chart of the emperors of Rome over this 50 year period shows that there was 22 rulers that died in only 50 years and none of the deaths were of natural causes, they were mostly from the blade of another man. Also the romans had a problem with effort. One article claims since the roman soldiers did not wear breastplates as much as they had done in the past. Due to this laziness the roman soldiers thought the breastplates and helmets were very heavy and did not wear them to battle. As a result, the soldiers became frightened and ran away from battle. Even after the losses of great cities no one tried to restore the breastplates.
With the Roman Empire in shambles, foreign invaders could just waltz right into the Empire and control major cities. An article by the Roman historian Ammianus Marcellinus states “...these swift-moving and ungovernable people make their destructive way amid the pillage and slaughter of those who live around them.” To clarify, This shows that the lazy Romans had no match against the huns in battle.
To end off with, this essay shows how in order the Roman Empire fell. I believe that without weak Roman leadership Rome would have thrived and would not have
