The streets lay empty the city lays abandoned the once great empire has fallen. This once great city is gone, what happened? The primary reasons for the fall of Rome were political assassination, military problems, and natural disasters. The first primary reason for Rome's fall was the rise in political assassinations. From various sources it states that in the years 235 to 285 A.D. there was a total of 22 emperors. Within the 50 years,13 of those 22 were assassinated or had a possible assassination, which is about 60%. Between the years 235 to 251 A.D. there was only a total of three emperors who assassinated compared to 10 assassinations between 252 and 285 A.D. This increase of assassinations is due to the worsening of the government, the people were not happy with the government so they would kill their government leaders. This increase of assassinations contributes to the fall of Rome by showing that Rome's government is declining and weakening of years go by. The
The book called "Concerning Military Matters" states that the soldiers got lazy and negligence and because of this the soldiers did not want to wear there breast plates and helmets. Because of this the Roman Fighters were prone to more wounds because of the lack of protective equipment. "Concerning Military Matters" says " Thus, it happens that troops in battle, exposed to wounds because they have no armor, think about running but not fighting." This statement is saying that the soldiers were exposed to the battle wounds and were more ready to run but not even think about fighting or that they might get hurt.
