Family Encouragement Cheril Zacarias

April 7, 2011 Narrative Essay

Many people are lucky because they are US citizens and have an easier life. My family has told me I have the opportunity to go to college since they didn’t. They’ve encouraged me in many ways for example making good decisions, having a good life and encouraging me by giving me support. Are a couple of ways they have influenced me. By making good decisions I won’t have a terrible life. One option can be to go to college. Doing something with my life is better than working without a diploma from college. If I don’t go to college, I wouldn’t gain the same amount of money as if I was just working in a regular job. Another reason of making decisions is if I were to drop out of school. To start, what would basically happen is I would have nothing in life. For instance I won’t have a solid future nor job or enough money. Additionally, working on something without a great future isn’t worth it because usually one isn’t happy while working at McDonalds, Wal-Mart, Housekeeping ect. Having a good life will make me have a much painless upcoming life. The first reason is being someone that’s important. For example, being something one wants to be is perfect because it makes one happy when they reach their goal. Another example is one show that they can do it and they should go to college as well. Second reason is this would be necessary for the family. If someone had any problems its easy if one’s a nurse, doctor, fireman ect. In comparison showing that one has a good job; the family should do the same.
Encouraging me by giving m me support helps a lot to think better. In the first place by actually doing well in school. A good way is passing all my classes that is something very crucial. In other words no ditching because or else I would miss work, homework, tests ect. The same as having bad friends since they’re the ones that can give one ides to do bad

Just because I have friends that quit school because they were lazy and due to work doesn’t mean that I too will quit. We all have our own Universal laws and our goals to achieve. I discovered that you think first before the actions come later through the point that Kant made. You also will learn to do good first to anyone and they will do the same thing. If you respect and do the right things, then people will also respect you and know that you are a well human being. This also goes for when thinking first and actions come later. The way we think is also part of who we are. If you think smart and positive things like staying in school and not quitting, a reward which will be a good education and will earn a lot of money. At this age all students are thinking about is what major should they study and what career will take them on the path they desire. Professor Mark Edmundson gives his own personal opinion on how you should choose an occupation in his essay: “Who Are You and What Are You Doing Here? A Word to the Incoming Class”. Some students would rather spend the rest of their lives walking into the same building doing the same dull job that can’t stand as long as they are making a lot of money. Others look past their yearly income and continue doing what they do because it’s what they love to do. According to Edmundson “To get it, you'll need to struggle and strive, be strong, and occasionally even piss off some admirable people” (Edmundson 406). His thesis states that you need to stick to your guns and stand up for yourself to get an education. What…
