Fashion
“Fashion is Hollywood” People are influenced by celebrities every day. They watch their movies, listen to their latest songs, or read about their stunning red carpet gowns in magazines. But fashion has been the biggest inspiration to the modern-day consumer with celebrities designing fashion lines of their own. Everyone from Jennifer Lopez to Hilary Duff has created their own clothing or accessory line. Some celebrities have done exceptionally well when creating a fashion line; for example, Jessica Simpson's line is the first celebrity clothing line that has achieved a billion dollars in retail sales, this includes accessories, jeans, shoes, other clothing, and sportswear. Most celebrities can’t sew, draw or drape and never went to fashion school but that does not stop them from launching their own clothing lines. It seems that many celebrities assume that making a clothing line is easy and that as long as their name is attached to it, it will do well. However, that is not necessarily the case. Numerous celebrity clothing lines have not done as well as they could have for various reasons, often times it’s just a matter of poor clothing designs. While many celebrities are out of luck when it comes to fashion design, many have lucked out and have had huge success. Usually a celebrity clothing line succeeds because the celebrity keeps up with trends and understands who their shoppers are and what they want. Among the many that have lucked out are Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Gwen Stefani, and Victoria Beckham. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have a line called Elizabeth & James, a more premium line called Row, and a third that was originally for Wal-Mart. Their designs are reflected in their own personal style and they have pieces that can easily work for anyone. Gwen Stefani has a line called L.A.M.B that is not only affordable but has attractive styles that combine bold and glamorous. Victoria Beckham, also known as Posh Spice from the Spice Girls,

The fashion industry is one of the most competitive industries in the world: sought after products and coveted brand-name garments can be “in” one season and just as quickly “out” the next. It is one of the most difficult industries for a new brand to successfully penetrate, as the top tier of respected and recognized designers have built their brand equity through many seasons of impeccable looks and styles that consumers have come to demand. Selling out its first shipment in a matter of weeks, Tory Burch LLC set the tone for its furious rise in the fashion industry.…
