* Rebecca Bermudez * English 99, CRN 31495 * Professor Lawrence * 10 April 2012 * Summary for Feel The Fear… And Do It Anyway * Susan Jeffers, Ph.D. * Feel The Fear… And Do It Anyway written by Susan Jeffers, Ph.D. has a main focus of working through fear, becoming more decisive and expanding comfort zones. The topics throughout the reading consists of concepts of increasing self-confidence, overcoming fear, staying optimistic through any given situation, living successfully in life, as well as gaining more strength, taking responsibility, creating a balanced life and living spiritually. * There are two main objectives; the first objective is to overcome fear to then be able to choose rational choices instead of reacting blindly in situations, while the second objective is to become more decisive in order to have a more balanced life. The key concept to reducing fear is to remember to keep moving forward even when situations seem frightening because once getting over the powerless or helplessness feeling confidence will start to become stronger. Also, to get toward feeling inner power instead of feeling weakness, the first step is staying active to keep control in life. Also to add, to become less afraid of living life, another idea is to take responsibility of every aspect in all actions taken. This means to not shift blame on others which will give the feeling of being a powerful person who has many choices instead of feeling as a weak person with no choices. * To keep the change as on ongoing process, negativity has to be turned into optimism in order to overcome fear and make the best of every situation. More to add, when recognizing all the choices in every situation, this will help to keep the negativity from returning and to stay on the path for self-growth while
