While fishing with my younger brother, I saw an alligator across the bayou resting in the shading water. Bored of not getting a bit on my fishing line threw a rock at the alligator. The rock missed its target by a few feet, but the alligator quickly moved to where the rock hit.

It can be difficult to identify real danger from imaginary when put under stress or making quick decisions. In a situation that involves fear, it tells us if we should fight or take fright. Though no one can come up with a precise definition of fear, this is the closes to it.

(3) Though fear can be a great way to motivate someone, it can also make someone insecure and fearful of the “what ifs”, making them unable to go forward.
