Fionia Shrek Analysis

Wrong century, Wrong time A princess has standards she needs to meet, she must be mature and undeniably beautiful. In the movie Shrek we are introduced to a princess named Fiona. The film Shrek is a medieval romance.Where Fionia was placed in the wrong century. Fionia in the middle ages is like fish out of water, it’s odd and doesn’t feel right. She’s out of place in the middle ages because she stands her ground and is all about equality. She belongs in our contemporary society. Fionia is a contemporary woman because she makes sure her voice is heard, she cares about her appearance, and does what she wants.
Fionia yells at the soldiers trying to take her from Shrek “who do you think you are”, she continued to fight them all off (Shrek). Fiona does not let anyone tell her what to do, these soldiers offended her, and made her statement and she’s not one to meddle with. A woman in the middle ages would have not acted
She is cursed, One form by day and another by night. Fiona loves Shrek and wants to stay but cannot because the only way to remove the curse is by true love's kiss. She believes by marrying lord farquaad the curse will be removed. In the movie Shrek she explains to donkey “ I can’t just marry whoever i want. Take a good look at me, Donkey i mean, really, who can love a beast so hideous and ugly? “Princess” and “ugly” don’t go together. That’s why can’t i stay here with Shrek” why she cannot stay (Shrek). She is so worried about her appearance she does not notice Shrek already loves her for who she is. In contemporary women are subjected to fit a certain image. Fiona wants to live up to these standards. Lord Farquaad was disgusted by fiona's true form, goes to show why she was so afraid to be seen and was hidden in the tower. Even after that though fiona comes to realize she can have what she wants and never needed to afraid. She leaves with Shrek, realizing he liked her all
