Imagine being in a life or death situation, and you have to risk your life. That is what police officers and firefighters have to do day in and day out. Sometimes people have to take risks to help protect others. Therefore, it is necessary to put your life in jeopardy to help and protect others and their property. Police officers must risk their life every day for the safety of their fellow man. They do not always know what the day has ahead of them. It may be a routine day or a day of action fighting crime such as robberies, murders, and mass shootings. In addition, a police officer must be willing to go to a place full of danger and terror. For example, five police officers lost their lives with nine others wounded on July 7, 2016, due to an unexpected shooter in Dallas, Texas. Police officers have to risk their lives to protect others just like firefighters.
They risk their lives to help others and protect property. They go into unsafe areas that are burning down and filled with flames and smoke. For instance, they fight house fires, forest fires, and chemical fires. They risk being burned to death, crushed under the debris, or losing the ability to breathe because of the smoke. An example is the California forest fire in which many firefighters died due to the smoke inhalation. In conclusion, risk is necessary to keep the community safe. Many people do it on a daily basis because it is their job and they are willing to risk their life to keep society protected.
