First-Generation College Student Analysis
As a first-generation college student, I have personally elected to further develop my passion, which pertains to the proper education of young minds. It is my desire to prepare our region’s current youth and sequential generations for prosperity in our ever-changing society through the education sector. It is my belief that cultivating younger generations with proper ways of utilizing technology can exponentially increase their cognition and thus raise our society’s intellectual levels.
I am currently enrolled at South Texas College in pursuit of acquiring an Associate of Arts degree in Secondary Education. I have successfully completed forty-five credit hours while maintaining a 3.93 GPA and I am scheduled to graduate in the summer of 2016.
Upon completion, I plan on pursuing the Bachelor of Applied Technology for Computer and Information Technologies at South Texas College. Currently, I volunteer in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of South Texas program, which has allowed me to acquire experience and enhance my approach towards properly educating children as well as keeping constant communication with parents and superiors.
The financial demand for schooling needs has become quite substantial over the last couple of years. It has become even more strenuous for students such as myself that do not count with expected family contributions to offset schooling expenses. The acceptance to the STARS Scholarship Fund would assist in alleviating the financial burden and thus allow full focus to remain on my overall goal of successfully completing the bachelor’s program and assist in improving our region’s educational standards. In this regard, I would like to convey my most profound gratitude in the consideration for this year’s STARS Scholarship Fund.
