What is Volleyball?
Volleyball is a game for two teams, usually of six players, in which a (volley)ball is hit by hand over a high net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team 's court.
A player on one of the teams begins a 'rally ' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team 's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. They may touch the ball as many as three times. Typically, the first two touches are to set up for an attack, an attempt to direct the ball back over the net in such a way that the serving team is unable to prevent it from being grounded in their court.
Fitness components needed for volleyball are: * Speed * Balance * Agility * Speed * Reaction * Hand-eye coordination
Speed:
Volleyball hits that are fast and accurate make it difficult for the opponents to counteract. Trajectory is extremely essential, as the ball must arc high enough to pass over the net. However if a player generates too much speed while hitting the volleyball over the net, it is more likely that the ball will travel out of bounds on the opponent’s side of the court.
Serves-
Volleyball starts with the serve. Professional top class players have serving speeds of approximately 121 mph, according to “The Sports Book”. The serving player stand at or behind the service line of their side of the court and attempts to place the ball on the other team’s side of the court. Serves aimed at the farthest areas of the opponent’s side of the court usually have a straighter trajectory and a greater speed. Serves to nearer areas have a steeper trajectory and a lower speed.
Spikes-
During a volley, a team will
