After choosing the provided video Five Senses Mindfulness Meditation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q07XlqX3RpI, I went ahead to practice the procedure explained in it. I spent the day being aware of how I perceived the world through my five senses. When I sat down for my meditation session, I observed all my sensory organs that are taste, sight, smell, hearing, and touch. This video helped me to not be fearful of what I noticed and to notice certain noises, smells, tastes, sights, and touching sensations without judgment.
When I directed my awareness towards my senses, my experience changed completely. In fact, I noticed that when all my senses were steady, my soul was also peaceful. My being, as well as my spirit inside me, was very calm. I was totally relaxed, …show more content…
In fact, there were times during the day when I did not feel good, was unhappy or anxious, and when I observed the movement of my eyes, I realized that they were darting from one place to another. It was very difficult for my eyes to focus on one specific thing when I was in this negative state of mind. When I became aware of this problem and observed it, I steadied my eyes and focused them towards my window, looking at the clear blue sky. After doing this, they became relaxed within a short while and my mood became increasingly uplifted. This led me to discover that when all five of my senses were in focus, I experience peace within myself. In contrast, when all five of my senses are not in balance I experience chaos within myself. I particularly realized that my sense of touch and hearing were the easiest for me to pay attention to. The reason for this is that paying attention to my sense of touch, as well as what I hear is not a challenge. It is very easy for me to notice immediately if there is any discomfort in my body and if there are certain sounds and noises I am
