Morgan’s piece addresses feminism and misogamy in the hip-hop culture. She uses a blend of song lyrics, and examples of her life and she references rap artists such as Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Snoop Dog, and Notorious B.I.G. Her focus is mostly on how black people are being subliminally influence by rap artists. She argues that instead of black loving each other their living a life were Machismo and sexism that has somewhat been contributed by the hip-hop cultured. Morgan raises interesting points about misogyny in hip-hop culture and, in particular she develops an analogy where she states “Continuing on our previous path is akin to demanding that a …show more content…
This analogy shows that in order to stop a crackhead from a robbing someone, one needs to stop the crackhead from being crackhead. Which means going back in time, stopping the crackhead from being put in situations which would lead to being an addict. What Morgan tries to say with this analogy is that in order to black on black violence, we need go back in time correct the issues that led to black on black violence. This example works to cats doubt that it’s automatically black people’s fault for being born black and being born a woman or male. And this example leads nicely into implied critiques of the hip-culture because hip-hop needs to stop promoting sexism and machismo.
