his college football season, multiple players have been called out for targeting. The fact that not all of the officials calls have been correct is one of the main issues. According to the AFCA, (American Football Coaches Association) rule 9-1-3 states, “ No player shall target and initiate contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. When in question, it is a foul.” Many officials this year called targeting on players who were not following the outline of this rule. The targeting call should be changed to how the officials are calling it.…

1 out of every 3 children in the United States is considered obese. That is about 25 million children in this great country of ours that are overweight. I think there are two main reasons why these 25 million children are overweight. Number one is that children aren’t eating the right foods, that is the main reason why there are a lot of obese children in the world today. The second reason is because these children aren’t getting enough exercise throughout the day which makes it even easier to become obese.…

In the midst of the debate over our national morals, a key issue I wish for budding scholars to discuss is whether coaches should punish their players for kneeling during the national anthem. In my opinion, coaches have no right to “bench” their players for exercising their free speech; a liberty on which our nation was built. While it may be seen as disrespectful among the white majority of NFL coaches, to the players who fall victim to issues of police brutality and negligence by our current administration, they are using peaceful defiance to stand up for the lives they hold close. Who are we to criticize this resistance when it will eventually go down in history as martyrous? Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali, and countless other athletes are…

I’m willing to bet that if I went up to ten random people, that few to none of them would really know what an Athletic Trainer does. Most people are not educated about the role of Athletic Trainers because they are relatively new to the health care system. I believe that education is the key to making Athletic Training even more successful than it already is. For example, most of the club sports players at Towson have no idea that they can visit the Athletic Training clinic. I’ve heard the phrase “do no harm” so many times, but the possibility to do good decays exponentially when people don’t know what Athletic Trainers do and when those who should have access to this form of health care don’t know that they do. Though educating others about Athletic Trainers is one of my goals, it is not the main reason I want to become one. I want to be an Athletic Trainer because I…

I was relieved, the only problem I had of not being in shape could be easily solved by running in the morning before school. The only thing I needed was my parent’s permission. And since I really had my mind on making and joining the track team this year, I really needed this “OK” from my parents to put my plan in effect. After dinner, each of my family members went up to their own individual room to finish their work for the whether it be homework or simply chores. As soon as the schoolwork on my desk was…
