Forgiveness

The First Word is "Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing" Luke 23:34.... Forgive. A simple word with a simple meaning but not so simple to do. A common thing we hear from friends or even family members is "I can't forgive him, what they did is unforgivable." Well how do you forgive the unforgivable? Everyday when you turn on the mews we here about a mother watching her innocent child go due to gunshots, drunk driving accidents, or gang related activity. How can that mother forgive that gun holder, alcohol abuser, or gang banger when what they did was unforgivable? How did Jesus forgive Judas when he betrayed him, Peter when he denied him or how did he forgive those roman soldiers who crucified him when what they did was simply unforgivable? Yet Jesus said "Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing."

Jesus forgives all of our mistakes and wrong doings. We can't forgive our friends and even family members for simply telling our secrets or doing something we don't like. Friendships and families fall apart everyday due to quote on quote "unforgivable mistakes". Grudges are held for those unforgivable mistakes. What if God were to hold grudges on us? What if on judgment day God rejected you because of your unforgivable mistakes? Luckily, we don't have to worry about that because he easily forgives us. So why can't we be like him and forgive the people who do us wrong? Why must we hold grudges on things that can easily be forgiven? The Biblical meaning of forgiveness is An act of God's grace to forget forever and not hold people of faith accountable for sins they confess. The Bible states that when one truly repents to the Lord and asks for forgiveness, your sins are then "cast into the sea of forgetfulness. So why cant we cast other people's wrong doings into our sea of forgetfulness? Years go by and we still like to bring up someone's mistakes like "remember when you went behind my back and did that, yeah I forgave you but
