She forgave Elliot for all of his mistakes he made. Elliot got drunk and Kit got furious and mad at him. “I was stunned. Mop Top (Elliot) was drunk.” Elliot also physically hurt her accidentally. While Elliot was drunk he grabbed her arm and wouldn’t let go. “He grabbed me by the arm. I flinched. You’re hurting me.” Yet she forgave him for his mistakes too. Kit and Iggy got close while she spent her time in St. Johns but Iggy also made some mistakes as well. Iggy’s mistakes were not very severe but they were mistakes and errors that were not right. Iggy didn’t do much when it came to standing up to Phonse. Iggy tried a few times to stand up to him and threated to throw him out of the house but he didn’t take much real action. Elliot and Iggy made mistakes, as did everyone else in her life and she forgave them all. Kit for sure needed time to think about forgiving them but, the important thing is that in the end she did forgive them all.
In the novel “Baygirl” by Heather Smith, the theme is that there is always room for forgiveness. Kit forgave her father even after everything he did and made her go through. Kit forgave her mother for her errors. And many people who Kit knew made mistakes and still she forgave every single one of them. If Kit can forgive all of these people in her life, I’m sure we can forgive many people as well. Kit’s example proves that forgiveness isn’t impossible, even to the hardest and most hurtful
