It all started when I first spotted the strangest creature I had ever seen.
At first, I thought it was just my imagination, because such a creature could not exist. That’s what I told myself at least. Then I began to see it everywhere I went. The creature would appear suddenly, and without warning. Every time I saw it, I heard …show more content…
He’s-“ The creature yelled, and midsentence it just vanished. After that, I began to notice strange shapes coming into view in the distance, and I realized that I was now standing on what appeared to be the roof of a high-rise in the middle of an unfamiliar city. I looked over the edge of the building, and once again I couldn’t tell if there was any end. As I stood there trying to find my bearings, I was shaken from my thoughts by the sound of clanking metal. I turned to find the source of the noise, and saw a metal cage. In the middle of the cage sat a ragged looking man with manacles on his wrists and ankles chaining him to the floor of the cage. They have already killed many of our alternate selves, and we need to find a way to fight back. I can no longer aid in the fight. My physical body is long gone. I’ve been trapped in here, trying to warn as many of us as possible, but I’m afraid soon even my consciousness will be gone.”
He told me all of this with such sincerity that I almost believed him.
“Okay, say I believe you, how many of us have you
