A Strange Day in July
A Strange Day in July One day on July 13, 1995, at around 9:00 pm, two boys were skipping rocks on a long gloomy pond. The boy named Jack decided it would be more fun to play in the mud, so he went to a nearby mud pit to frolic in. The other boy (John) kept skipping rocks. On around his third throw he realized that the stones were coming back. Curious, John hurled a stone along the pond. No sooner then he threw it the stone came skipping back twice as hard. As John narrowly dodged the stone it continued past him and pierced has friends leg. The bone in the snapped as Jack screamed in pain. John’s mother was astonished when Jack came limping into her house claiming that John had thrown a rock at him. She decided to ground John and he was not allowed to ever play with Jack again. A month later, when John was free, he decided to go back to the pond. This time he brought a flashlight and more stones. He threw a stone to check if it was working. As expected, the stone came skipping back. John’s plan was simple: Throw a stone and follow it, with the flashlight, to the end of the pond. When the flashlight reached the end, he could barely make out a slimy green silhouette. Distracted by the figure John didn’t see the stone as it flew toward him. When the stone hit John, in the head, it instantly knocked him out. Slowly he awakened taking in his surroundings. Above him was a dim green light dangling from the low red veined ceiling. He was lying on a table, with the same color scheme, in his school clothes. He could faintly hear some kind of chattering in an unknown language, but he could not pinpoint the sound. So, he laid there wondering what was happening and where he was. He was thinking that maybe there was lave in the red veins, when suddenly a creature appeared out of nowhere. It was tall, green and looked like it was slimy to the touch. When it walked its feet sounded like suction cups on the ground. Its big black eyes were staring him down as it reached

The glistening, white snow fell slowly to the ground outside the window. The distinct shapes of the snowflakes shown; the light from the street lamp seeping through the cracks. The mumble of the heater in the corner of the room; the faint sound of the blood dripping onto the floor were the only sounds. He lay there; motionless. The thuds were entering the silent room once again. The creaking of the wooden floor grew louder and louder. Still the light of the street lamp shone through the window and onto the far wall. The nasty figure walked into the murky room. Only its shadow appeared on the far wall behind it. The boy in the bed was Eli. His tiny eight year old body was red with his own blood. Then……

His chest sunk down, and for a moment the man resigned his fate into the hands of what seemed like a boulder on his back. The man rose to his knees with what little strength he possessed and began to yell at the kid, only it came out sounding like a low, horrible groan. Tired, with a headache, and not in capacity to maintain my eyes open, I remembered next day was Halloween, which was the last thing I remembered before falling sleep. I woke up and saw the watch, it was three o’clock a.m. I listened to a weird sound that came from my closet; it was soft, but I could hear it like a rat scratching the walls. Intrigued about what was happening, I woke up and walked towards the closet. The sound gave me the chills.…

I woke up hazed with blurred vision. The right side of my face was dried and burned. The left side of my face was soaked in salt water and blood. I was freaked out and picked up my head and blinked rapidly. I saw nothing but blue for miles and miles, the sky and the water. When I looked down I saw nothing but a small black and orange rubber dingy. I tried to think about what had happened. It was then when I realized I couldn't even remember my own name. Then panic just settled in for some reason I jumped in the water freaking out. I came to my senses and quickly started using all my strength to hurdle myself in the dingy.…

A slight breeze blew throughout the dandy forest, swaying the stiff lifeless trees and blowing the black stained leaves across my bare white feet. As I stumbled across the dead landscape, a slight fog swam around blending in with the increasingly falling snow. Hundreds of dark wood surrounding me seemed to slowly cave in, creating a narrow cave-like passage. An eerie feeling swept over me, and I stopped completely, analysing every detail around me. The smog became thicker, blinding the scenery and almost completely covering my vision. I sensed an inhuman presence watching me, and flinched whenever a snapping sound came from a faraway distance. I slowly turned around and began pacing in the direction I came from. The fog smothered me but I kept running,…
