The Pigeon River flows through North Carolina and right here into East Tennessee. The Pigeon River got its name from an extinct bird, which migrated through the valley of North Carolina. Although, the Pigeon River looks nice, there is something extremely harmful going on inside the river. The long-polluted Pigeon River in Cocke County has not been “fishable” or “swimmable” for over 100 years due to pollution. The river’s water has turned dark brown, and has a terrible odor. The reason behind this beautiful river being polluted is the Blue Ridge Paper Company. The Blue Ridge Paper Company, once part of Champion International Paper, in Canton, North Carolina, is a primary source of Dioxin and matter pollution that has been discharged into the river. Colonial Williamsburg is an open window into the past, as it depicts many significant social and political groups. This educational museum, which is the biggest living one on Earth, has had plenty of significant historic structures that have benefitted leaders and the citizens themselves. Although every one of these buildings were crucial during colonial times, are relevant today, and reflect on the motto, ” That the future may learn from the past.” , the Magazine deserves the spot for holding a majority of the soldier’s weapons, stating independence, and explaining how and why people used and organized their weapons.…

To me, Everett Family Farms and Love Apple Farm are distinctly different. Everett is bigger and feels more "commercialized" while Love Apple is small but lovely. If I'm to compare these two to the farms we know, I'd say Everett is similar to CASFS but Love Apple is more like Chadwick garden. Everett is an organic farm. In Everett Family Farms, there were many crops we are familiar with, such as garlics, onions and strawberries. On the pricing board of the farm stand, it also shows that the farms have carrots, spinach, lettuce, kale, and chard. They also raise chickens in the farm and sell eggs, which I believe are pasture-raised. The farm manager, Emily, showed us around the beautiful farm to have a good at the cherry blossom intercropping,…

“The Waldorf Astoria was the world’s first skyscraper hotel and today still exudes the glamour and grandeur of a luxury hotel.” Built In 1893, Multi-Millionaire William Waldorf Astor opened the 13-story Waldorf Hotel on the site of his home at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 33rd Street in New York City. The hotel was designed by renowned architect Henry Hardenbergh (Hardenbergh is best known for his hotels and apartment buildings, some of which include: The Dakota apartments, The Vancolear, The Plaza Hotel and many more). In 1897, The Waldorf was joined by the 17-story Astoria Hotel, (built right next to the Waldorf), by Waldorf's cousin, John Jacob Astor IV. In 1929, the owners of the hotel (not the Astor cousins, as they passed away in 1912 and the other in 1919) decided to close it down due to new technological and industrial advances and the fact that the hotel was starting to become dated. So, the decision was made to sell the site to the developers of what would eventually be the Empire State building and to…
