French Bread Short Story
The day my father leaves to deliver French Bread he doesn’t return. I walked outside and saw him lying in the middle of our dirt road. I ran up to him and tried to help him get up. He said “ I am weak and I have a rosy red rash around my neck with an egg-sized swelling in my armpits”. I ran inside to get mother but she had the same thing. The next thing I did, was run to town.
When I got to town, I stopped to get some water when I noticed that the lady next to me was dead. I was startled. I ran to the next house down and the lady inside was alright and eating French Bread. I stopped and started to cry because it reminded me of my father, when all of a sudden the lady fell to the ground. I looked at her and she had the same thing my

He said “no.” We kept walking and haven’t seen a sign of her brother when all of a sudden we heard feet walking up behind us. Paige screamed and soon noticed that it was her brother. She went on with her brother and said that they were going to sail to Connecticut and go see their family to tell them of their terrible news. I was sad to see them go because I was going to be all alone again.
The moment they left it started to rain. I was getting ready to head back home when I remembered that my parents have died and that I will have to raise myself from now on. It was terrifying to think about it so I ran home and put my mother and father in their final resting places and settled down for dinner.
The next morning after I ate breakfast, I ran to the store to get some food and when I got there people were all over the floor dead. I was starting to think that might have to move somewhere else even though it may cause me to move from the only place I have ever called home. So I left the store and went straight home and thought about leaving and I have decided to leave because it may be the only way to not get the Black Plague. I will leave at noon

Once again, I found myself wandering through the uncomfortable, brightly lit halls of the hospital. I was to find the room where my father was, an all too familiar task. "Room 443", I was told by my mother who had requested me to take my dad back to his apartment. Upon entering the elevator I let out a sigh of apprehension and turned to wearily push the button labeled "4". Whiffs of disinfectant products meandered themselves inside my nose while I looked around to see egg-white walls and nurses shuffling about in their bright, floral print scrubs. One of them approached me with a kind smile. "May I help you?" I briefly responded saying I needed to find my father, Charles Jolitz. "Go down the hall. He's in the last room on the left." Slowly making my way to the door, I speculated about what had happened to my dad this time. I entered the room thinking to myself, "Boy, he looks worse every time.", his salt and pepper hair ruffled, beard unshaven and a look of loss on his face. Though as soon as his eyes met mine, that face lit up and the corners of his mouth upturned into a smile. "My chickadee!", he exclaimed. I asked him how he was feeling and if it was time to go as the nurse carted in a wheelchair. All three of us made our way down to the lobby exchanging small talk. I dashed to my car, happy to be out of the dreariness that is a hospital. I hoped he would tell me why he was there yet again. Once in the car, he told me in a few words that he had had another episode due to taking his pain medication with a fifth of vodka and had lost control. He ended up dialing 911. My dad hurriedly changed the subject asking if I was hungry and if I would like to go have a burger. I let out another sigh. "I'm sorry, Dad. I'm not hungry, I've already eaten but I can take you to get one. We can go for lunch later this week." "Alright, sweetie.", said he. We arrived at his apartment complex and I walked him to his…

My story begins at just the age of 8, we just had moved to a South Texas town, Kountze, this town had about 2,000 to 3,000 people residing in it. My parents had decided this was the perfect place to raise me and my brother who is two years older than me. I didn’t understand much then, but from what I can remember the only problems I had was what flavor of ice cream I wanted when my father took me to the ice cream shop and which Disney channel show was on. But then, as I thought things were just fine, On one summer night I heard noises in my parents’ bedroom and I overheard my favorite hero crying in the bedroom and saying he needed to tell us something terrible had happened. As he sat me down on his lap and told me that grandfather had passed away. My grandfather had been diagnosed with lung cancer shortly after he came from India to America too visit us. My father had to take him back to India when they found out he diagnosed. I sat there not understanding what had happened and hearing my hero in tears for the first time. It was one of first of many forms of tragedy I have had to witness as I thought nothing could shake my father but at this moment I realized I was wrong and got scared, this moment had changed my whole…

When we were leaving, my family and relatives were at the house saying their goodbyes and giving hugs. “Do we really have to leave everyone and move, mom?” I asked. “Your dad and I have agreed that it will be a good move for the family, now stop complaining about it.” she told me. The only thing I wanted to do that day was stay in our old house and cry because I didn’t want to leave my family at all, I was really dreading moving to Florida.
