Gary paulsen born minneapolis minnesota on May 17, 1939-present in his lifetime he became known as an author, but it wasn't always this way. Gary Paulsen as a child lived with his grandmother until age seven Paulsen then went to live with his parents in Manila, Philippines. While living with his parents who continued to argue, Paulsen was frustrated and decided to leave at age 14 working odd jobs at a young age Gary in his early years worked odd jobs like; farm worker, soldier, sailor, trapper, rancher, engineer, truck driver and author
Paulsen wrote autobiographies about himself, starting with his early years at age seven. He wrote Eastern Sun and Winter Moon, which were autobiographical odysseys
which were in first person view of his life as a kid.Paulsen also remembered was when his mother was asleep and paulsen snuck outside to play and someone tried to molest him, but his mother came in time and beat the person to death. He also remembered his mother bringing home different men. This is one of the reasons Paulsen started writing to write about what was going on thro Most of Paulsen's books were about traumatic occurrences in his earlier years living with his mother. One occurrence throughout his life and people involved around him.
Some of the situations that happened mostly involved his family, his father who was a korean officer which spent most of his time overseas, his mother “Paulette” who stayed home, a full sister “Paulette”, and a half brother Bill.
Now he is most known as a writer, brother, son, husband and the author of some of the most known books.
