This project was to see if orange juice can benefit the body more than gatorade can. If orange juice has more electrolytes than gatorade, then orange juice can help the body stay more hydrated. Athletes care about getting enough electrolytes because the athletes need to stay hydrated when working out and playing sports. The independent variable is the orange juice, gatorade, and distilled water. The dependent variable is the electrolytes measured in milliamps. The results were that the gatorade had 0.01 milliamps more than the orange juice and the distilled water stayed at zero. The hypothesis was not supported because the hypothesis states that the orange juice has more electrolytes than the gatorade. If the experiment was repeated, the amount…

In this advertisement, it shows many different professional athletes such as Dwight Howard and Peyton Manning drinking gatorade products to stay hydrated. This is an example of ethos appeal because they are all well respected athletes in their specific sports, so many people trust that if these athletes trust these products to work for them then it could probably help them stay hydrated and maybe even become better athletes or all stars like Peyton and Dwight. It appeals to people who trust Gatorade and different athletic drinks. However, it does not appeal to people who believe that it does not help your athletic ability at all but just increases their sugar levels.…

James Naismith was the creator of basketball. He created it in 1891 to condition young athletes in the winter. The “hoop” was a peach basket and the ball was a soccer styled ball. There were many rules for the new game. He created it in a YMCA gym in Springfield, Massachusetts. His team of eighteen was divided into two teams of nine and then the peach baskets were nailed above their heads. Every time one would score a basket, the game was stopped for the janitor to get up on a ladder and retrieve the ball. Later on, the bottoms of the “hoops” were taken out and they became a (sort of) real basket.…

He had discovered that the athletes of a losing team were weak because of two main things that were not being replaced because of sweat, electrolytes and fluids. (Note 1.) Electrolytes help your brain control your muscles and body fluids, and when the main electrolytes are lost with the sweat, it delays communication. Millions of people drink sports drinks like Gatorade everyday, But very few people actually know what ingredients make up their favorite sports drink. Gatorade was thought up in 1965 by an assistant coach of the Florida Gators at the University of Florida and his team of physicians who wanted to create something to help his players deal with the heat of the Florida sun. They created a concoction they deemed “Gatorade”, named after the team of course. The beverage set out to replenish not only the fluids they lost on the field but the carbohydrates and electrolytes. After they instituted this drink the team began out doing their opponents in the heat and ended the season 7-3, But the question here is not “Does gatorade work?”…

Gatorade is formulated to rehydrate and replenish fluid, carbohydrates and electrolytes as well as to "quench your thirst." According to Wikipedia, "Gatorade is the official sports drink of NASCAR, the NFL, MLB, NBA, WNBA, USA Basketball, NHL, Association of Volleyball Professionals, US Soccer Federation, Major League Soccer, High School Sports Teams, and the Chelsea F.C. in the UK." It's no wonder why so many people choose it as their go-to drink. I make sure to always have at least one case at my house. Not only do I use it when working out and playing sports, but it also helps me feel better when I get sick. When you begin to feel your energy slipping, Gatorade is an excellent choice to help pick yourself back…

As individuals of society we are continuously and subconsciously affected by media’s tactics to persuade us into falling victim into their marketing schemes. Witty yet brilliant individuals cough up slogans that will inevitably affect many consumers to come. The advertisement that initially captured my attention was the Gatorade Sports Drink Commercial. To start off, the advertisement contained text and visuals that demonstrated that Gatorade is a necessity to succeed in athletics. Moreover, the commercial demonstrated with the assistance of Nba Stars Dwayne Wade and Kevin Durant, you need the nutrients that Gatorade provides in order to compete in sports and to become the ultimate athlete and champion. I believe this ad creates limitations and viewers are led to believe that they must consume Gatorade due to the…

The major reason anyone drinks fluid before, during and after physical activity is to replace the water that is lost through sweat. If the water isn't replaced dehydration will occur and performance will be hampered. The purpose of Gatorade and other sports drinks is to help rehydrate your body quickly and help improve performance and productivity. This is accomplished through a well balanced mix of water, sugar (carbohydrates) and salts (electrolytes), the major ingredients in most sports drinks. These ingredients, combined with a variety of fruit flavors, create pleasant tasting drinks that according to the companies are suppose to help your athletic performance. Three major problems we face every day from physical exertion is the loss of water and electrolytes, elevation of body temperature and depletion or energy reserves. If the sports drinks work as advertised they should be able to help us avoid those three problems.…

Gatorade started in the summer of 1965 with the realization that the Florida Gators football players could not make it through practice without struggling. Many players reported being dehydrated and playing sluggish during team drills. So team physicians got together and determined what exactly was the problem. The athletes suffered from a lack of electrolytes and carbohydrates, which was not being replenished with just water. The group of four physicians blended a drink that had the perfect balance of carbohydrates and electrolytes. The drink would prove to help the Gator football team perform better on the field, so naturally they called the drink “Gatorade.” What happened next was rather remarkable because the players started performing better. They finished with a record of 7-4 that season and the next season they finished with a record of 9-2, winning the Orange Bowl for the first time in school history. Eventually, the drink moved into the professional leagues and the first team to adopt it was the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs had trouble practicing in the stifling heat of Missouri’s summer afternoons and they kept it on the sidelines the whole year. It resulted in the Chiefs beating the heavily favored Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl VI. Soon it became popular to have Gatorade on the sidelines and it started the sports drink category. By 1985, Gatorade had expanded its research in sports science by building the Gatorade Sports Science Institute. The Institute allows them to better understand the human body, its needs during the stress of competition and how to improve their products.…
