Gay Parenting Research Paper

Gay and lesbian parenting is still one of the most controversial topics to discuss today due to society drilling into minds that the Mom-and-Dad orientated family is the definition of a normal and healthy family. Gay and lesbian parenting is simply couples of the same-sex raising a family where the children grow up in loving, supportive environments. The sexual orientation of the parents does not influence if they can raise a child, rather it depends on if the parents are capable of providing a nurturing environment. Several people ignore the fact there are thousands of children waiting to be adopted and continue to oppose gay and lesbian couples adopting children, even though there is no rational basis for preventing this when they are just as capable of raising children properly as a heterosexual couple, therefore, homosexual couples should be allowed the right to adopt.
The concept of gay
People today still struggle to believe that gay people exist, but it is even harder to believe that a queer couple can properly raise a child. A person should be allowed to adopt a child if they are responsible, loving, and are able to support the child with a safe environment. The sexuality of a person does not affect their capability of parenting a child. There are awful parents who are heterosexual and there are awful parents who are homosexual. Stephanie Pappas stated, "Kids of same-sex couples—both adopted and biological kids—fare no worse than the kids of straight couples on mental health, social functioning, school performance and a variety of other life-success measures" (Adoption, 2014). The people who believe the myths and go around telling them are more than likely homophobic.
