The Primary Service Provider (Occupational Therapist, OT) will:
Make joint visits with a speech language pathologist (SLP) to discuss and determine different gestures that work for Kim. The OT and SLP will model and discuss how to teach Kim to use different gestures effectively.
Teach Kim use different gestures to indicate what she wants and help Kim’s family understand Kim’s gestures as her choices and encourage use of them whenever possible in a variety of settings.
Observe what other gestures Kim uses in communicating her wants or needs on a daily basis with her family.
Observe Kim in interactive play with her family and have conversations with them about what they find works or does not work for understanding Kim’s wants and needs and then provide Kim’s family suggestions and feedbacks for improvement.

We will know this goal has been met when Kim and her sister successfully go to bed at the same time and when Kim’s sleep and wake times are consistent and predictable. Kim’s family would be able to say “Kim usually goes to bed with her sister _____ and wake up around _____ time”. We will also know this goal has been met when Kim’s NG tube feeding is reduced and eliminated.

Kim’s family is very supportive of Kim in all aspects of her life.
Kim’s family values sleep and is aware of Kim’s NG tube affects her sleep at night, which leaves Kim fussy during the day. Therefore, they are willing to help Kim having the same sleep schedule as her sister and staying asleep through the night.
What will be done / by whom
Kim’s family will:
Create the relaxing and peaceful sleeping place for Kim to be able to stay asleep throughout the night.
Keep a sleeping log for two weeks to decide a time that works best for both Kim and her sister go to
