She lived in El Building, a apartment building. The building was for poorer people who didn’t always have money to even eat. Elena and her family were living in mostly cheap food like beans and rice. That’s why the girls at her school call her “skinny bones” (Cofer g. 38 paragraph 4) because she don’t eat it. Elena spent most of her time on the fire escape of El Building.
Eugene, who was another main character lived in the richer home. It was the richer home because it had a front yard and a back. It also wasn’t connected to any other homes, it was just their house. Now it’s one of those things that you live where you live. Nobody cares where you live now, but some people still judge. You can’t tell someone oh you can say that.
To be an American now it pretty much means to have freedom. We can do a lot before it causes a problem. For some teens it means to be able to vote and drive. We get a lot of freedom at school. We can go off for lunch and choose the classes we want. Not all schools get to do
