Global warming can be defined as the gradual increase in the temperature of the earth's atmosphere and the question over what has been causing this increase in temperature has sparked many debates throughout the world. There is certainly evidence to suggest that global warming is a real issue, not just an urban myth. Since pre-industrial times (i.e. before the industrial revolution in the late 1700s) global average temperatures have risen by about 0.7°C, with roughly half of this occurring in the past 30-40 years. Not only this but carbon dioxide levels in the Earth's atmosphere have also dramatically increased since this time. But is this relatively recent rise in global temperatures down to human activities or is it just a result of the planet's core temperatures naturally fluctuating up and down, like they always have, or is it a combination of both?
The majority belief, particularly in the past few decades, is that climate change is solely a result of human activities putting a huge strain on the planet and it is these man-made issues that probably cause the most damage. Pollution is perhaps the biggest anthropogenic problem in terms of climate change and can come in many forms. A large

The case for attributing the recent global warming to human activities rests on the following undisputed scientific facts:
• Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a greenhouse gas that warms the atmosphere.
• Since pre-industrial times, atmospheric CO2 concentrations have increased from about 280 parts per million (ppm) to over 380 ppm. Current concentrations of CO2 and other greenhouse gases are unprecedented in at least the last 650,000 years, based on records from gas bubbles trapped in polar ice.
• Independent measurements demonstrate that the increased CO2 in the atmosphere comes from burning fossil fuels and forests. The isotopic composition of carbon from these sources contains a unique “fingerprint.”
• Since pre-industrial times, global average temperatures have increased by about 0.7ºC, with about half of the warming occurring over the past few decades.
• The only quantitative and internally consistent explanation for the recent global warming includes the intensified greenhouse effect caused by the increase in CO2 and other greenhouse gases.

First of all, the cause of current climate change is typical of global warming has been confirmed is mainly due to human activities. Humans have used more energy mainly from raw materials including coal, oil, natural gas, which was released to the atmosphere increasing the gas causing the greenhouse effect of the atmosphere, leading to raise the temperature of the earth.…

Global climate change has been a subject of much discussion for some time now. The earth has naturally gone through heating and cooling phases in its lifetime. Most scientists agree that these changes aren’t solely the product of humans, but that the time required for natural climate change has been decreased due to humans. This has led to new problems for the earth and all of its inhabitants. According to research the earth is warming at an average of 1.2-1.4° F every 100 years (epa.gov).…

Obviously, global change is definitely a massive issue that we as humans should handle in the near future. To start off with, global climate change is a severe change in weather patterns around the globe that affect thickness in the atmosphere, temperatures, precipitations, water levels, and food growth. In addition, this change greatly contributed to the increases levels of carbon dioxide concentrate produced by the use of fossil fuels. To support this claim, one way the global climate has been changing is shown on a graph measuring the amount of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration existing which states that, “carbon dioxide concentration changed in the 20th century compared to Earth in the past based on the chart because the line…

There is evidence that global warming is becoming worse primarily due to rise in carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere. In 1950s, the concentration of carbon dioxide was at 315 parts per million. Currently, the concentration is about 385 parts per million. To discover an increase in concentration of carbon dioxide throughout history, scientists have used bubbles of air trapped in ice and results show that the current concentration of carbon dioxide is the highest and has been, for more than 10,000 years (Maslin, 2007).…

Global Warming is an increase in the earth's average atmospheric temperature that causes corresponding changes in climate and that may result from the greenhouse effect. Thus there is no indication that the warming between “1975-1998” and “1975 to 2009” is unnatural, unusual and/or caused by anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions. Global Warming may have started in 1975, but there is no observable evidence of anthropogenic carbon dioxide emission based global warming began in 1975. Most climate scientists agree the main cause of the current global warming trend is human expansion of the “greenhouse effect” warming that results when the atmosphere traps heat radiating from earth towards space.Yet the big question standing still is, is Global Warming real? Well here's what you need to know about the warming planet, how it's affecting us, and whats at stake. In recent years, global warming has been the subject of a great deal of political…

For the last 2.5 million years, global temperature has shifted between cold glacial periods that last for around 100 000 years, and warmer interglacial periods that last for around 10 000 years. Right now we are in an interglacial period. 20 000 years ago the Earth was cold. Around 15000 years ago it started to warm up, this was the end of the last glacial period. Over the last 10 000 years the climate has been warm with minor fluctuations, however over the last 1000 years the climate has been fairly constant with small fluctuations in annual temperature. Over the last century global temperature has increased rapidly. This is called global warming; there has been a sharp rise in average temperature, 0.7oc between 1900 and 2000. The temperature increase over the last century has been very fast. There is a consensus among scientists that the changes in climate over the last century are a result in human activities (anthropogenic causes), including Al Gore, as shown in the statement which I agree with. I think the majority of global warming is due to humans therefore it is our right to try and find solutions to diminish global warming as much as we can.…

“The global atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide has increased from a pre-industrial value of about 280 ppm to 379 ppm in 2005. The atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide in 2005 exceeds by far the natural range over the last 650,000 years (180 to 300 ppm) as determined from ice cores. The annual carbon dioxide concentration growth rate was larger during the last 10 years (1995–2005 average: 1.9 ppm per year), than it has been since the beginning of continuous direct atmospheric measurements (1960–2005 average: 1.4 ppm per year) although there is year-to-year variability in growth rates .”…

The basic physics of global warming are pretty straightforward. Carbon dioxide reflects energy in the infrared region, rather than letting it pass through, leading to greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect heats the Earth because greenhouse gases absorb outgoing radiative energy and re-emit some of it back towards earth. This was first discovered by Svante Arrhenius back in 1896. Burning coal and oil releases carbon dioxide (CO2), these two resources are what we use most to live the way we do today. We have direct measurements of CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere going back more than fifty years, and these measurements confirm that concentrations are rising rapidly. Though natural amounts of CO2 have varied from 180 to 300 parts per million (ppm), today 's CO2 levels are around 390 ppm, that 's 30% more than the highest natural levels. Scientists have confirmed with this information that the unnatural levels of CO2 are indeed manmade (How we know human activity is causing warming).…
