I practiced for hours every day, rain or shine. Over time, I began to develop my confident self-image on the golf course. I learned to stay in the present, have a clear mental focus, and keep my competitive fire burning. Most importantly, I strived to be great and was optimistic. I went from shooting in the mid-100s to shooting par or better. My game finally began to come around during the high school golf season of my junior year. I took home a share of the state title and it only got better from there. I went on to qualify for the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, the IMG World Junior Championship, and the Girls’ Junior America’s Cup in the same year. Although I did not place as well as I had hoped in those tournaments, it got me ready for other important tournament events in the future. My recent success landed me a spot on the University of Oregon’s golf team. Playing for a Pac-12 college was one of my largest goals, and I am about to begin to conquer that goal. My life has been a struggle between myself and depression. Although I had golf to help me through some tough times, I still had an enormous weight thrown upon me everyday. The missing piece of my life is helping people with the same things I have struggled with for years. My main career goal is to become a clinical psychologist because it is my mission to help people who feel the same way I do. I have shown throughout high school that I have the dedication to do so. I am valedictorian of my class of 2016 and I participate in different school activities that require leadership skills - Student Watershed Assessment
