In order for this relationship to be effective, it will require input from the students by way of creating the classrooms rules of engagement. The teacher must provide the basic policies and allow the students to provide their input, which creates buy in for the students. Expert teachers recommend these five must-have rules for middle schoolers: 1: Respect yourself and one another, everyone should be given opportunity to learn in a capacity that works for them and it can only happen if respect for all is present within the classroom. 2. The classroom must be a safe zone free of judgment and ridicule. Student must be comfortable in their environment in order to thrive in the learning process. 3. All students must take initiative in learning; if there are lessons to be learned then effort must present to make it happen. 4. Take every opportunity to use technology appropriately; technology can enhance information, thus making it more interesting to the student. Those learners with exceptionalities, or any individuals whose physical, mental, or behavioral performance is so different from the norm, either higher or lower, that additional services are needed to meet the individuals’ needs. (Slavin, 2015). For example, students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are individuals who have a difficulty keeping their attention for extended periods of time. The teacher’s role must be adjusted to deal with these types of exceptionalities. In this case, there are several things to be considered in accommodating these students. The teacher should consider, creating clearly defined rules, seating arrangements, understanding towards the behaviors, group alike students, and maintain ongoing communication with students’ parents with daily behavioral/progress reports.
