Greed Definition
Humans have many different characteristics that make them stand out from other species. We by far have the highest population than any other species on the Earth. This means that the more humans that are on the Earth, the more distinct characteristics are more likely to appear. What determines these types of characteristics and ultimately our character as a whole? Early philosophers have said that the ownership of objects determines a huge part of our character, but what does it mean to "own" something? The Greek philosopher Plato argues that owning objects is detrimental to a person's character. The only catch is that it has to be yours. Considering something to be yours is personally up to your character. Greed is a trait in humans that stands out the most. Greedy people tend to "own" more things than other people. They tend to want everything to be theirs and usually do not give back to the people who need the necessities that do not own much. Greed is an easy characteristic to spot in humans because you can look at a person's social status, and the way they act to determine greed. Most wealthy people tend to be greedy because they will have the money to buy own more objects such as cars, boats, houses, jewelry, and anything else money can buy. Selfless people however tend to be more forgiving, and would rather help the people in need than to spend money on objects they want. Selfless people tend to own less than the greedy people, but also have less money than them too. Selfless people will give first before buying objects for themselves. People who give blood or organs are the perfect example of selfless people. They are not forced to give the blood or organs by any means. They choose to help those in need of them though cause they are less fortunate than others, and need the help. The selfless own the blood and organs while others may not. The selfless have better character than the greedy because they understand the meaning behind giving and not wanting everything. Plato's philosophy hits the bullseye when it comes to character and
