Group Contract ASSIGNMENT
ASSIGNMENT

Describe the steps you would take to get a group contract agreed with a group of young people going on a weekend residential, and explain the importance of having such a contract in place.

During this assignment I will talk about the steps I would take to get a group of young people on a residential weekend to sign an agreed working agreement contract, and highlight the importance and benefits of having the contract in place. In my assignment I am going to mention the advantages and disadvantages of having a contract and what should be included in the contract for both the leader and for the group, eg, Confidentiality, Time-Keeping, Health and Safety procedures, Contract signed by entire group, Policy and Procedures and the importance of the contract.

At the very start of the residential is when the contract should be set in place, so the first step to take is to gather the entire group into a room and explain to them what is going to happen in going about setting up the contract and explaining to the group that the contract is their working agreement, and discuss with them what they think and would like to be included in their contract.

The importance and benefits of having a working agreement contract is that it gives every young person in the group a common goal to work towards, an example of this would be two people meeting for the first time at the residential and a particular topic came on the agenda that involved working in pairs, there particular goal would then be to introduce one another to each other to enable them to work had in hand to achieve this particular task. Another important part of the contract is it is giving personal responsibility over to the young people, giving them ownership and allowing them to make their own decisions on the residential. An example of this is allowing them to have their own freedom when making choices which results in them not rebelling against what you would want them to do or choose, this way
