Describe different ways in which you would establish ground rules with your learners, which would underpin behaviour and respect for others
Before the course starts there is an interview/screening process so that the tutor gets to meet the potential learners before the course starts during this process all aspects of the course are discussed including a few ground rules.
All learners require boundaries and rules within which to work (Gravells 2008). These will be made clear on the first day of the course the students are given a student contract which is required to be read signed and dated by each individual student (see appendix 1), after this we then discuss and write down on paper a class contract which includes the following:
• Arriving on time
• Switching of mobile phones
• Not interrupting fellow students
• Respecting other people’s contributions
• Only having on conversation at a time
• Personal Hygiene
• 100% attendance

rules you established. You may have a class of stroppy and unmotivated adolescents, or a small group of keen senior citizens: they can all waste a lot of time trying to find out what these rules are if you don't help to clarify them. (http://www.learningandteaching.info/teaching/ground_rules.htm)
Setting these ground rules help everyone knows their limit.
Learners also like a routine and will expect the tutor to be organised and professional from this you should always start the sessions on time stating what is going to be covered in the session or the day and recapping points along the way and a summary at the end which just recaps the most important points of the day (Gravells 2008). After the students are happy with the ground rules the discipline producer is explained for breaking any the ground rules which would include press ups for a minor break and the worst case scenario is also explained which would be getting removed from the course. The most important part of this is that all the ground rules which have been established are for both the learners and also for the tutor so for example if the tutor’s phone goes off he must do ten press
ups.
Ground rules is beneficial to group because if they all followed correctly you will get the correct and comfortable learning environment so that the students can the most information they can from the tutor. The rules also separate the students from the tutor which is always important because a tutor can’t be a friend to and a tutor to one of the learners because this means that the tutor has been unprofessional and also that he may put all his effort into that one student which again is unprofessional. If the learning environment is correct and comfortable then it is also relaxed and safe so this should mean that successful learning will be able to take place if there is no respect between each of the learners or between one and learner and the tutor. Then no learning will take place because either the students will be disruptive or they may just not listen the tutor because they have no respect for you either as a person or you knowledge.
